If it is a free set of tires, forget what I said about thinner is better, go for it!

But I used what a member did on another forum to calculate the delta and each time your wheel will do a full turn, you will do 15cm more than calculate by the car (2.35m instead of 2.20m): that is quite a difference (6%).

You should check the clearance from the car (should be ok but better check anyway). The difference for the odometer should be 6% meaning that if you want to drive at 110kph, you should read no more than 104 on the odometer.
Another point to consider is the handling of the car and the added stress that bigger tires will put on the tranny.

Good thing is that you will register 6% less mileage than what you really do (take it in account for your oil change).

For the rims, you need an offset of +40mm and a bolt pattern of 114.3 degrees (5 bolts).

Hope that helps.

I am going to stick with the stock dunlops for the first winter. Just to see how they do. I will probably get winters next year but my favorites are Yokahama, but they won't have the 17" size till next year....hense my wait.
However... here is a link to help figure out what equivilent size you can buy without throwing your speedo out of whack.

You should be ok as long as you are careful, stay on main roads and don't go up north.
That is usually what I do with my new cars as the rubber is still in good condition, but this year, they pass a new regulation in Quebec: You have to have winter tires on your car by mid November, it is mandatory.

At least, roads will be safer like that. But what about people from Ontario coming to work in Quebec everyday?

Thanks for the link, it is easier than doing the math.

Funny thing, I compared the two tire sizes we have on the Rogue, 225/60R17 for the SL model and 215/70R16 for the S model. There is a 0.8% difference between the two.
At the same 60mph speed indicated on the odometer, the S model will drive 0.5mph faster than the SL.
More funny thing, if you want to stick with the 16 inches rims, 225/65R16 tires are a closer match to the 225/60R17 than the 215/70R16 (only 0.4% difference).

Do you know if I can install 225/65R16 tires on rims which are designed for 215/70R16 tires? Is the width compatible for the two sizes?

You should have no problems mounting the new size on your current rims. Most tires can be mounted on varying rim sizes.
Again, I have a link that can help in determining rim sizes for specific tires.

Thanks for the second link.

That should work, just have to find a winter tire with this size.

You are good at finding useful websites.

Now I have a quick question. Does anyone know what the bolt pattern is for the 17" wheels (5/110, 5/112, 5/114.3)? I swung by my dealer today and asked the service advisor and he looked at me like I had two heads
I swear the guy is only 16.
Thanks

From what I read, the bolt pattern is 5/114.3.

If I remember correctly, it has been confirmed by someone else after that.

Anyway, it should be the standard Nissan pattern, I don't see them change it just for the Rogue. Kinda weird that your service advisor doesn't know that.

Thanks Pescakl1. It had to be one of the three.
To be fair to the service advisor....we have a college here that has an Automotive Marketing program, and the dealers accept students to work in various positions to gain experience. I hope this young fellow learned something today.......LOL
