Not only will the 08 Nissan Rogue incorporate the normal ABS (see Antilock Brake System below) standard on just about all vehicles now adays, but it will also include a fairly new system called Electronic Brake Force Distribution or EBD for short.
On cars without EBD, when the driver presses the brake pedal, the force is evenly distributed to the four brakes. On cars with EBD, the brake force is proportioned to each wheel based on driving conditions and available traction. In an emergency straight-line braking situation, EBD would provide more brake pressure to the front to avoid the rear brakes from locking. If the driver brakes while steering a corner, it would control the brake forces between the left and right wheels to help maintain stability.

Anti-lock brakes, also called ABS, for passenger cars date back nearly 30 years. ABS uses electronics at each wheel to rigorously "pulse" the brakes faster than any driver physically could during panic stops. This rapid pulsing prevents the brakes from locking up the wheels during hard, sudden stops and on some slippery surfaces. Wheel lockup is a problem to be avoided because it can cause skids and prevent drivers from maintaining steering control.
