| 2012 SL AWD wont disengage So i have 2012 rogue sl awd. and just complete 6500 km on it. took it from toronto to ny and back. so on my way back it a patch of snow in buffalo. but quit oddly when driving thru the hills of jersey and pennsalvania i was getting really ????ty mileage. going to ny i got about 9.2L /100km but on the way back i was around 9.7 and once i hit the snow storm in buffalo my awd kicked in at full strength and i could tell because the car started running heavier. and i could see the mileage gauge at around 11 - 15L / 100km/ which made sense as the four wheels were running high but the only thing i didnt get was that when the roads were not slippery and dry the 4 wheel drive was still on as the car felt heavier but from time to time i could feel the difference as the car would get lighter then heavier on dry road. has anyone seen this. i got real ????ty mileage comming back. and it sucks that there is no way to turn on the 4 wheel. u can only lock it. and yes i didnt had my awd lock on. and i have no slipping either. but the awd drive system was difinately ON the whole drive even up on entering canada and we had no snow here and the roads were dry. also evey time the system kicked on and off the car shook a lil and made it swerve and on side note i dont like that this car has soo much road noice. and the vibration when ur cruising down the streets at low rpm. it just sucks.

| You want road noise, buy a Dodge Caliber with stock Firestoned tyres. Mileage will be pretty good feathering the gas and keeping speed around 4o mph. Above that it goes down. I can 28 if I keep it around 55-60 mph. I use syn oil if that makes a difference. In winter the engine hangs in the higher rev range so it get worse mileage until it warms up.

| As far as I'm aware, the Rogue's AWD system is a full time AWD, so it never shuts off one of the axles. You can lock it into 25% per wheel up to 20 mph or so, but thats it. Road noise? Yep. Thats what you get when you buy a cheap car. Note, not an inexpensive car, but cheap...its a tall Sentra wagon, nothing more. Economy? I think the 23 I get in this thing is remarkable...we hit around 25 highway last weekend. Ignore the digital readout until you calculate your economy by hand and verify the readout is accurate...the one in my Rogue is pretty good, but the one in my old 02 Altima was always high by about 2 mpg. the propeller shaft is always spinning, but that doesnt mean the clutch is engaged to propel the rear wheels. |

B-i-a-t-c-h please! Them’s fightin' words. I'd hardly call our Rogues gussied up Sentras. Ok, I’ll grant that the Rogue’s chassis may derive from the Sentra’s C platform, but there’s a lot more to it than that. Cheap!?! Care to expound upon this?ImStricken has it right (again). The Rogue system has I-AWD or intuitive all wheel drive, combined with a standard Vehicle Dynamic Control (VDS) system. Nissan Rogue Review

This generation sentra is based on the C platform architecture that also underpins the first-generation Nissan Rogue, Nissan Qashqai and also the T31 Nissan X-Trail, as well as other Renault models. volvo & ford 500 shared frames and still do. mercedes ML/GL suv's and dodge(jeep) cherokee share and still do frames/platforms. Nissan maxima/altima/skyline share platforms with the Infiniti G25/g35/g37 Nissan maxima & I30/i35 shared frames/engines/tranny's Toyota camry & lexus es class shared frames/engines/tranny's Just because it shares a chassis doesn't make it a "souped up" anything. different suspension, brakes, drive train, engine, ergonomics, etc. (with suspension comes handling, body roll, etc) we actually DO NOT USE SENTRA REAR BRAKES! We share our rotors with infiniti g35 & nissan 350z (yes that means rotors from the g35 & 350z will fit our car) Lamborghini Estoque is to share the platform with Audi A7. DOESNT MAKE THAT LAMBO A SOUPED UP AUDI lol |

I am well aware that other vehicles on the planet share platforms, its been common practice in the automotive industry for a good 50 years or so. Apologies abound to any that are offended if I say the Rogue is built on the Sentra platform, but surely you guys knew this already. Like it or not, the Rogue is Nissan's mainstream entry in the Sport-Cute segment and in order to keep it price-competitive there are always concessions to be made...maybe they just bug me more than others, but it really doesn't matter one whit what my opinion is...what matters is owners are happy with their purchases. - Lots of road noise. - Cheap, hard plastic used extensively in the interior. - Bucket seats without any lateral support or adjustable side bolsters. - The hood uses a prop rod, not hydraulic cylinders (the Altima also had this feature). - No auto headlight feature available? Really? - Steering wheel doesn't telescope. Much of this is likely amplified out of proportion in my case as we traded in a 2002 Audi A4 3.0 on the Rogue, so I was used to a completely different class of car. I wasn't ready to get rid of the Audi but its my wife's ride and her decision so I've had a bad attitude about the Rogue from the get go...I'm trying to love it since we're going to have it for at least 4 more years. |

2) i agree with you & disagree with you. 99% of cars use plastic. EVEN "WOOD TRIM" is 99% of the time plastic. the only to use real wood is Mercedes, and lexus, and some other luxury name brands. but real wood has it price- and that means clear-coat cracking in 5years and rotting and looking like crap from 120* degree summer interiors face. What nissan did to much of is, use MATT-BLACK to much. they could have added a bit more color and that would have been a lot more visually aesthetic versus just the same feel/color of plastic all over. 3) ya, i can see your point there- but you need to understand, this is a nissan. NOT INFINITI. if you wanted the little supple accents here and there, should have gotten the ex35- but you'd pay $10,000+ more. 4)the hood prop bothers you? really? now your just trying to find things to complain about. i spend TO MUCH time under the hood and a hood prop rarely bother me. personally id rather a prop so i know a gust of wind wont drop a 20lb hood on me. 5) I AGREE WITH YOU 100% THIS PISSES ME OFF. THEY GIVE US USELESS HEADLIGHT LEVEL FEATURE, BUT NOT AUTO OFF??? COME ON!! 6) meh, im 5'11" and this doesnt bother me. id rather the seat go lower then the steering wheel come to me. its almost scraping my man-hood as it is LOL just be happy, and enjoy the car. at least its not an electrical nightmare that audi is |
