Need Advice!! My wife purchased a 2010 Rogue a week ago. Has 400 miles on it. She does a lot of highway driving for work. She said that when she gets off the highway and comes to a stop it feels like the transmission wont shift out of the high gear and she has to push the pedal down really far to even go anywhere. ( I know the new transmission in the Rogue doesn't "shift" but this cant be right). She said she felt as though she wasn't going to make it up a small hill because it felt like she was stuck in such a high gear. Anybody have the same problem or is this normal?

No, no, this definatley is not how the car should operate. The CVT is a little different but basically there is nothing about it's operation that should alarm you. If your wife is alarmed, and she's driven a lot in the past, then I would say there's definately a problem. I'd suggest going for a drive with her and see if you can notice the problem, then make sure you have a very clear description including when the problem occurs (all the time, or intermittently), and take that car back to the dealer. They'll be able to diagnose it and repair it provided you can give a good description for them to start from. The Rogue CVT tranny is geared for efficiency and as suck will select a high gearing under low-load conditions i.e. around town on a flat road with very little throttle by the driver. But the CVT is VERY responsive, the moment you press down the on the throttle even a little extra, it will select a lower gear ratio, the rpms will raise and you'll get instant additional power. And if you run into resistence from a hill, it will instantly sense this and gear down just enough to get up easily - very smooth and seamless. Your operation is NOT normal, if the car feels messed up then it most likely is and your warranty should kick in to help you. Good luck.

We've had the same problem. Our 2010 Rogue is just 4 weeks old with 1000 miles. We will be bringing it back to the dealership with this problem for the second time. It's happened each of the two times that we've driven on the highway. When we pulled into a toll plaza and then try to accelerate from a stop it's as if the transmission thinks your still in high gear and will barely move even if your pedal is to the floor. Also we've experienced where the engine will rev up to 3000 rpm's while the accelerator is depressed but the car won't move as if the emergency brake is on. Both times the check engine light has come on. When we took it to the dealership two weeks ago they said there was something wrong with the computer system and said that they reset it and that it should be fixed. I guess they meant only until we drive it on the highway again. I'm really dissapointed so far. I'm getting the feeling they know there is absolutely something wrong but don't know what to do about it. Good luck.

I bought my rogue 4 weeks ago and have had this happen a few time calling the dealer tomorrow. This morining I had to shut the car off in trafffic to get it to down shift. Tonight on the way home it dosent seem to want to go into high gear ( speed) 70 MPH and the tack is at 3400 seems very high for flat ground.

Not sure if you guys were able to find the fix. There is another forum that I am on and it seems as though you all have the same problem. One person who wrote about it and had is fixed said it was this, 25320-AX00C is the stop lamp switch, located in the brake pedal assembly. The stop lamp switch is used for feedback of the brake pedal position (brakes applied or not) and is an important part of CVT operation See if that helps you out also.

Hello everyone, this is my first post and I would like to know everything I can about this problem as I just bought a rogue krom in April 2010 and it had this issue within 700 miles and my dealer said he has never seen this before and gave me a brand new rogue because of this issue and now my second one has the same problem. What is nissan willing to do about this issue. I love the rogue but hate the issue at hand. Any help will be great. Also, on the first krom , they replaced a convertor switch and it didn't help. Only fix my dealer has is a new trans.

me too! This is happening to my new rogue too!! It just won't move when it should. I thought it was me because I was used to a much faster car with a stronger engine. This week I realized it was really a bad problem because it happened several times in just one day and I was lucky I didn't get hit from behind... The dealer is replacing the transmission right away without any fuss, but after looking at the posts it doesn't even look like this will fix the problem. I am pretty worried....

i also have had the same problem. I almost got rear ended coming off the highway because I couldn't accelerate after merging. seems to only happen after long periods of highway driving. This is the second problem we have had with the 2010 FWD Rogue the first apparently was the plug to the transmission controller came undone and the trans went into limp mode.

Recall I had my 2010 Rogue in for its first oil change last week. The service manager asked me if I had time for a recall and I asked what it was for. He said a program change to the computer for the transmission. You might want to check about a recall.
