Possible tranny defect???

Have any of you guys been reading about funky
noises coming from the CVT trannys?? ...and
that Nissan is aware of these problems and their
supposed solution is to replace the trannys??
There are several posts on the other Rogue
site concerning this.

Anybody on this site heard funny noises coming
from their trannys and low speed under light
acceleration?? The noises are suupposed to be
"clicking" and "grinding" sounds.

Isn't this the same tranny they are using in the Murano?

They say not....this is the first time that they
mated our 2.5l with the CVT and AWD....I really
don't have a handle on this very well right now.
But, I'll tell you one thing.....its gonna irritate
the crap out of me if they have to start replacing
our trannys in truckloads! I'll be very disappointed!
I may even get rid of it! I expected way better....
But, I'll wait it out and see before I get too crazy!

I'll keep checking and keep this post updated....

Here's a posting from the other site concerning
your question.....

"The QR25DE motor is on it's second generation and has been used in a variety of Nissan products including the Altima, Sentra, Rogue, X-Trail (Canada), and Frontier.
The CVT itself has been changed since it first appeared on the Murano. The current CVT design is shared with the Altima 2.5 and Sentra SE-R. The Chrysler/Mitsu twins also share use the same CVT: Dodge Caliber, Jeep Compass, Jeep Patriot, and Mitsubishi Outlander.

The transfer case, AWD transfer coupling, and other components are based on the unit on the Murano. They should be identical to the those used on the Rogue's twins: the Dualis (Japan) and Qashqai (UK).

So yes, components of the drivetrain have been around for awhile. However, the Rogue is the first to pair Nissan's QR25DE motor, the Jatco CVT, and the AWD system together."

...they are running a count over on tha other
forum....so far, it's looking like this problem is
only happening on the AWD models, none so
far on the FWD models.....but this data collection
was just started so let's wait a little longer and
see??

I got my tranny changed last week because of funny sounds I have an SL AWD Premium Package...so far they had to change the air bags control unit ( Car at dealer for 2 weeks) and tranny ( Car at dealer for a week) both time pieces were back-order...I just hope they fixed the tranny problem for good and i wont need a new tranny each 12k kms...

FWD tranny issue

I bought an 08 SL FWD on Saturday. Already noticed not only noise but a slight vibration coming from I assume the tranny when very lightly accelerating between 15 and about 28 mph. I already called dealer and then saw and joined your site moments ago.
I'm even more concerned about the issue now that I see others have experienced it.
We'll see what they say.
I'll try to get it to the dealer today or tomorrow and will update you all later.

update on noise/vibration

Dealer acknowledges the vibration and noise. Said they test drove a new one with fewer miles than mine (which as about 200) and it had a worse vibration. Drove anothe customer's Rogue in for service and they said it was there but not as bad as mine. Thier conclusion: it is a characteristic of the rogue and I should ignore it and it may go away.
That doesn't sound right to me.
Any suggestions or information on this from others?

Mine does the same thing at low speeds. I have found that you can use the paddle shifters to go to a lower gear and that fixes the problem and helps the acceleration. Think of it like a manual transmition. If you try to get going in a high gear you will have the same problem. To save fuel, Nissan has these things defaulting to the higher gears to keep you out of the high rpm's.
