| Just so you know I'm not taking this lightly. I have to take my 9 month old Diesel in because of a couple of codes it's throwing and from the TSB's it looks like both the Turbo and EGR system will need to be replaced due to excessive soot that faulty ECM and PCM software when I first got the truck made the engine produce. I'm wondering what else this soot may have hurt and I'm not a happy camper.

| It's just the breaks of owning a first year model but it does make you wonder what kind of road testing is done before they release the product to the public?

| here we go again guys....read it and weep.... last posting: "Well, guys, the noise is still there. Apparently the service advisor hadn't seen the car, so he was assuming if it was ready to go, it had been fixed. Their service manager met me in the lane, explained that Nissan is now apparently considering the noise normal, and gave me some "off the record" suggestions (most of which I already knew). I even got a chance to talk to the head tech (the one I had met personally weeks ago), who explained that he had been pulled off my car (for the first time in his memory) by Nissan. I really do think my dealer has done decent work. I am livid at Nissan. It's one thing to say they haven't figured it out yet, but to now explain that the condition is normal (which btw the dealer reps had some interesting things to say about that, after two official Nissan techs have ridden in my car!!!) is infuriating. Nissan has given me my marching orders. Florida Lemon Law complaint will be filed tomorrow. I have already met the 3 attempts requirement; I had the dealer re-print the service orders. Its funny, I am so disappointed that I can't put my feelings into words. I'm not the type to get angry, until a final resolution, but I can't help feeling screwed. I also feel stupid, feeling like I have tried to be professional this whole time, to only be taken advantage of. This has seriously burned me on Nissan. I still love the car, but if they stubbornly refuse to fix it, what car am I going to buy next if the lemon law complaint works out, a second choice? I wish I had kept my trade. Sorry for more bad news, fellow Roguers."

| Well it seems to me that the transmission fix would be an easy fix. It would be a computer timing fix for the transmission, the computer would have to suspend gas mileage saving until it passed a certain rpm... say 800-1000. If the car had more power at low rpm's then there would not be such an issue. If the problem is more profound in the AWD models, it would make sense. There are more pulleys and parts to move. So one could say that you could have some headers fabricated and so forth to increase power, but that is not the way things work. The car should act properly with nothing being modified and paid for by you (the owner of the car). The fix will be made in the future. Here is my analogy, I bought my new Dell laptop in May of last year. The Graphics card driver had some glitchy issues, but there was no update for the driver. Well just this year in march they released the driver and it fixed the issue. The card was a first year card, and the computer cost me $3,500 which is not $23,500, but it is still expensive. The issue will be resolved, and it will be a simple resolution, but it will take time and a lot of complaining from you and me. Write Nissan and go to your dealer, and if that doesn't work go to other dealers. The power of change is in numbers and it is going to take every one of us that have problems to voice those problems to get them fixed. Not just for ourselves, but for other rogue owners and future rogue owners. |

| HI, new member first time poster. We have 6700 miles on our rogue and right from day one i noticed that driving in town at 40 mph the tranny seemed to vibrate almost like a standard transmision would if you were in too high a gear for your speed. If i used the paddle shifter to go to shift down to 5th gear the lugging noise would go away. I had read in one of the magazine road tests that the 4cyl rogue hooked to the CVT transmission was probably a poor match because of the power to GVW WEIGHT RATIO. I therefore accepted that little quirk and would occasionally use the paddle downshift to negate the vibration, BUT....for the last 2 weeks a loud annoying droaning noise has occured when we hit approx 42mph until we reach approx 55mph. It is really strange because this noise sounds almost like the tranny needs to shift into a higher gear, but judging by the tach it is not really too high an rpm. If i move the shift lever towards me into the manual shft mode the dash indicator reads 6th gear and you may see a slight rpm differnce but the noise doesn't change. I also pushed the shifter into neutral during the noise and no change. My dealer is Saratoga nissan and they said i would have to leave it for a few days for drivetrain testing. If this problem can be corrected i love the car, it's great in the snow, the gas mileage has been better than the sticker rating and it costs alot less than the 04 murano we traded in. If they tell me to live with the noise i will not buy nissan again! |

| ......latest posting..... Quote: "I've been reading this since June and finally had to put in my own 2 cents. I bought my Rogue in Feb 08, "rattle" started at less than 3000 miles, mentioned this to my dealer in May at my first oil change and they adjusted the heat shield (did no good). The rattle became more consistant and louder. June 25th I brought my Rogue in because I had a major water leak, entire interior floor soaked, ac hose clogged and poured into the car. They replaced my carpet. The service manager heard the rattle and told me it was the CVT and that this was normal. I had to bring the car back because now there is some dashboard squeak. I talked to the manager again about the rattle because it is now driving me insane. He told me today that the tech spent a long time on the phone with Nissan, they are aware of this "issue" but replacing the transmission will not fix the problem. I was told I had to hold tight until they come up with a fix. Sorry to be so long winded. Thank you BigPapi for info on your dealer. Oh by the way, mine is SL AWD as well!" Well, at least Nissan is admitting now what I surmised all along.....replacing your defective tranny with a new defective tranny isn't much of a help.... They still haven't figured out what is inherently wrong with the tranny that causes this....so, until they figure it out, why let Nissan practice auto mechanics with your Rogue, just bite your lip and wait....

| Getting a new tranny Glad I found this forum. AWD light popped on last night......this was the first sign of any issues......roughly 5000 miles on my SL AWD Rogue......They are replacing the tranny this week. I am pleased with the prompt attention given to this matter and pleased that Nissan is handling it appropriately. I'd rather have no issues.....but given the choice between trying to fix something or replacing it. I'd opt for a replacement any day. Way to go Nissan for a good repair experience. |

There is still no fix, you may be having to have the new one replaced also.....thats what I meant by us allowing Nissan to "practice" auto mechanics on your car. Great service, defective part. They have NOT figured out whats causing this....Good luck???

| Transmission Rattle I wanted to touch base with this forum as well as the other. I"m one of the attention seekers that had the transmission replaced by Nissan. I have the service slip that states "failed internally" , replaced per techline advisement. I found these forums well before we purchased our Rogue, not as a way to gripe, but I wanted as much information as I could get about the Rogue, which we love, even with the transmission replacement. If you have this problem, you'll know it. I felt the vibrations and some of the other lugging descriptions related to the CVT, but really, that seems to just be the nature of the CVT. The rattle we had sounded like dragging a bike chain across a metal pan, but a much softer sound. Best description I can give. I don't know how widespread this is and doubt I'll ever know for sure. Just wanted you to know that were not all trolls on the other forum. |
