...again....another post from the other forum:

"I agree Kerrton, you should not hear any noise out of the ordinary or that is not representative of the engine. The sound I'm told is coming from the CVT chain which becomes loose due to a lack in pressure. Nissan is trying to come up with a solution to this loss in pressure. Supposedly, Nisan will no longer authorizing new transmissions because they don't believe its actually the transmission that's the problem. Anyhow, I'm no technician and can only regurgitate what I'm told"

if the problem is NOT in the tranny, then...what and
where the heck is this "chain"...????

I'm pretty sure that the CVT has a belt not a chain. I shall look.

Here ya go, this is about the Rogue CVT http://www.nissanroguesuv.com/PDF/TM.pdf The thing you'll notice is that there is no chain but rather a belt with a set of pulleys. I find it interesting that people who own a Rogue and are having problems with it keep saying chain rather then belt. I doubt that mechanics are referring to a CVT Belt as a Chain which makes me very suspicious.

I agree with you ....sounds like they are either
talking to someone unversed with the insides of our
cvt's, or, they are mis-interpreting what those
people are explaining to them....who the hell knows?

If they are referring to our cvt belts, are they then
saying that the belts are losing their tension adjust-
ment and start chattering?....

One of these people with the problem ought to make an audio recording so we can all hear it. Most laptops and digital cameras can do this not to mention a camcorder but I bet they won't?

Took "my wifes" Rogue in today to get its first
service.....I would normally do all my own
servicing, but since this stupid tranny thing arose,
I wanted to make sure that there was record of
Nissan doing the initial service and checking just
in case...

Anyway, I made a special trip in to the service
managers office and had a chat...asked him again
if any Rogue tranny problems had come in. He
said there had been absolutely nothing that had
come in on anything to do with the Rogue, and
that he had not heard a word from Nissan
concerning this matter or the "below the door
scratching" problem. I told him of the postings
of the two Rogue forums....all to his surprise.

So, I dunno people....your guess is as good as
mine???

My position from the beginning was until one of our senior members here had a problem it was just people needing attention. The Queen and I are still looking at getting either a Rogue, Murano or EX35 so I've been doing my own Q&A session with my dealership and they've been telling me the same thing as yours and after the way I was treated by them with my 04 Titan I believe what they tell me................this will be my 3rd Nissan in 7 years.

That doesn't sound right to me.
Any suggestions or information on this from others?
Translation, the dealer wants you to ignore it and go away.
