Did you still have this noise when you "slam" the brakes, braking more than just a slight braking?

I noticed with my first car in Canada (Subaru legacy), that I might have heated too much the brakes during winter and with the cold-hot-cold cycle of the brakes, they swirled a little bit. When you slighty touch the brakes, you feel that the contact between the disk and the pads is not even. When you brake more stronger, the braking is almost normal (could still have some bad feelback).
May be you got that this winter, a bad hot-cold cycle of your brakes.
I have been told that it usually will disappear with use but if it is too much swirl, you will have to re-machine the brake disks to even their surface.

I hope this help.

...guys....this is starting to get scary....

On the other forum several, (all AWD's, and only
AWD's), are now getting their trannys replaced,
and still no TSB or recall from Nissan.

Time for some good ol' logic....
Seems to me that if transmissions, (plural), are
now starting to be replaced....WITHOUT a TSB or
recall of any type, that all Nissan is doing so far is
just replacing whats broken and crossing their fingers.

If Nissan has not recognized this problem enough
to do the TSB/recall, or admit that they
have a problem, then this means they have NOT
as yet developed a fix for it, meaning......the
tranny that they replace the bad one with will
probably end up with the same problem and IT,
too, will have to be replaced. All we are doing
then is playing musical transmissions!

Now, I will give Nissan the benefit of the doubt
that maybe, not enough trannys have been
replaced at this point in time that would raise a
red flag....we'll wait, patiently hoping.

PLEASE let me be wrong in this assumption!!!!!!!!!!
I'm starting to become kinda disillusioned with my
Nissan Rogue.

concerning the gargaling, i had a blond moment here basically the A/C was on but was on low and thought it was off (DUUHHHHH) when turned off there is no noise anymore..all is well.
Im starting to get scared as well with this tranny defect I have an AWD and do not seem to have this defect..when accelerating it does make little rumble but seems to be normal since the CVT workes with the high gears....
can u describe maybe a little more? if possible????
thanks

Same here, I hear or feel nothing strange as yet,
the "rumble" you describe I believe is just
characteristic of the CVT....I hope we are just
making a mountain out of a mole hill, only time
will tell...its just good to be vigilant.
(And I can't describe this noise since I haven't
had it?? We are in the same boat.)

It is better having a blonde moment than having a problem with your car!

The following was just posted over on the other
forum....as you read it, keep in mind that this
person is quite upset with Nissans response..here
ya go:

"The so called official word I just got is that Nissan is aware of the problem and is working on a fix. Once they have it they will recall the trany's for repairs. Their has been no failures so they are not willing to replace it at this time. The problems as I've been told is the chain within the trany looses pressure and causes it to rattle. I still say F** Nissan and the dealer for selling CRAP!
Never again! If I wanted to buy a substandard vehicle with out proper testing I could have bought another Dodge!"

Its starting to have the feel of a "common"
defect with our trannys, that is absolutely
going to require intervention from Nissan...why
it seems to be only happening with the AWD's, I
don't know?

Boy do people hate change. I bet because the CVT allows the engine to rev at any speed, the noises coming from under the hood sound strange because people are use to the sound and behavior of a conventional manual and automatic transmission.

I noticed when I drove the Murano (Before the Rogue was being produced) that the gradual changes in engine note sound like a sliding transmission or a slipping clutch -- signs of trouble with a conventional transmission, but perfectly normal for a CVT. Flooring an automatic brings a slam you in the seat lurch and a sudden burst of power, where the CVT provided a smooth, rapid increase to maximum power. Even to me it made the car feel slower, but when I looked at the speedo she was scooting at a rapid pace toward 100 MPH.

Oh by the way, the CVT doesn't have a chain but a belt which makes me wonder about the author of the post above me from a different forum. If you do a google of Nissan rogue transmission replacement you know how many sites come up? This one and it's all here-say. LOL

Does anyone have some real world numbers on how many are having this problem and how many AWD have been sold total? I like the vehicle, but if Nissan is going to treat this like the aluminum diffs in the Titan, I'll just have to look for something else.
Lator....
