| Installing tow hitch & wiring harness I just got done ordering a class-3, 2" opening tow hitch from ebay. $122.50 with free shipping, and i also ordered from a different seller the appropriate no-cut wiring harness thats plug & play $46.39. I figured i would do a install-write up for anyone else currently interested in this or in the future- AS A DO IT YOURSELF to save some cash. This will be a 2 part series install (1.trailer hitch & 2.wiring) install. i have done this before, so its not a big deal- but in the rogue it requires you to run a +power wire from the battery to the rear to power the wiring harness. Stay tuned as i will update this post as i go along with install pics, instructions, and notes. | Hey nice! Yeah I'll be towing a lightweight open trailer as well. Mine's big enough for another bike. I ride in Ontario, Canada. Main track is Mosport, which is famous and even Americans travel up here to race. Knee draggin' is what I live for!!! I ride with others alike. Whoever wants to enjoy a track day is always invited. No team or anything. |

and this 4x7 fits mine & my gf's bike perfectly. i couldnt ask for more. i was a little worried, but it fits both fine. and as for towing, the rogue didnt even struggle. i thought it would kinda be sluggish, but surprisingly, i didnt even feel a difference. very happy. i will add more pictures and simple how-to's tomorrow. the video i posted is dead on right on the install. EXCEPT THEY DIDNT COVER THE RUST THAT BUILDS UP ON THE DRIVER SIDE FRAME RAIL NUTS. that turned into a pain. had to clean and clean and clean. so much rust, that the bolts didnt wanna go in. WOW LOOK AT THAT STRAIGHTAWAY! ![]() in my state, we have 1 track facility that hosts 2 tracks: THUNDERBOLT: ![]() LIGHTING: ![]() |

| Mosport id one of the most dangerous tracks, I crap my suit every time I'm on it. There are elevations like no other, its a roller coaster. And on that back straight, I can get up to 270kms/hr with my 600! Scary haha We have organizations who rent the track and host these events. We have to register with them for the single day and pay the fee, sign the waiver, etc. There are also clubs to join but its not necessary. The tracks you've got there look technical, especially Thunderbolt. Hey, looks like we've changed the topic on this thread! I'm glad it doesn't struggle, the engine should have more than enough torque. I'll be installing the hitch myself as well so I'll follow along and see how yours goes. The previous owner had a hitch as well and I noticed rust where he had it installed. Not sure if the different metal on the hitch had anything to do with causing it. |

ya, true- back on topic lol: i bought this rogue and it didnt have a hitch, so the driver side nuts on the frame rail got a chance to rust since 08. i ended up having to use not only wire brush, but WD-40, and a heat gun to try and clean it enough. the bolts that came with the hitch were great, but due to the rust, i had a tough time going into the left side. if yours had a hitch on their already, you might not have issues because those bolts were covered from the elements. you might luck out. id still suggest spraying WD40 and letting that soak in for a day or two before install. i really struggled with trying to torque the bolts in. OTHERWISE, the passenger side, like every rogue from the factory had a tow-hook attached and since that gets removed to install the tow-hitch, those nuts were not rusted at all. the bolts went in without trouble because they were covered from the elements. i hope yours didnt have time to rust up. |
