I sent Untitled Document an E-mail about the possibility of this system working on the Rogue. I doubt that they will be able to tell me anything since the Rogue isn't available yet but after owning a first year vehicle (04 Nissan Titan) I've learned that it's never to early start bugging manufacturers of aftermarket parts.



To understand the principle of the axle disconnect, where only one axle is disconnected, you should understand the built-in effect of a differential. It is commonly known that with both drive wheels off the ground, and the transmission in "park" position, when one wheel is turned forward, the other wheel freely turns in the opposite direction.
When the Axle-Lock is in the disengaged position, the left wheel can turn forward, while a portion of the right axle turns freely in the opposite direction. The right wheel also turns freely with its axle disconnected at the Axle-Lock. This principle is used by several U.S. and foreign makers of 4-wheel drive vehicles to disconnect the extra axle. Turning the front wheels to the far right allows access to the Axle-Lock. Engaging and disengaging the Axle-Lock is easily accomplished by reaching around the passenger side front tire and rotating the Axle-Lock housing one-third turn-clockwise to engage and counter-clockwise to disengage.

Will an axle disconnect work with full time AWD? With your Titan, the transfer case that splits the power forward and rear is part time and split 50/50 when engaged. The viscous coupling, that I think is on the Rogue, is computer controlled by activating the brakes to send power to the opposite wheel. By disconnecting an axle, the computer may send all the power to that axle and leave the axle still hooked up motionless.

Nevermind my post, I was way off on what the subject actually was. what does the factory suggest as far as flat towing is concerned?
