oil change interval

I have been researching Toyota RAV4 and Honda CRV but I'm now interested in Rogue style. One thing I like about RAV4 and CRV is that their oil changes are every 6 months. Can it be the same for Rogue?

I'm still waiting for the manuals on the Rogue to become available but any more oil change intervals are 7000 miles or more. I own a Nissan Titan and it was 7000 miles but I'm running Mobil1 extended in it and now per my oil analysis I'm going 13,000 miles between changes. The day of the 3000 mile oil change are pretty much a thing of the past.

Welcome to the site, and If I get a hold of a manual I'll let you know.

Thanks Squid. I will be very happy if Rogue's oil change intervals are somewhere between 5000 to 7000 miles. Nissan Rogue shares the drive train with Nissan Altima and Edmunds.com site says the oil change intervals for Altima is 3750 miles. I hope that it is a mistake of Edmunds.com and some engine improvement will made into Rogue.

Here's how it's done on at least the Altima and the Titan.

Servicing the Altima
Nissan recommends three maintenance guidelines according to driver preference: Premium Maintenance, Schedule 1 and Schedule 2. Premium Maintenance is a Nissan-recommended option that is suitable for all driving habits and local conditions. According to the Altima owners manual, “Nissan developed Premium Maintenance for owners who want the ultimate in preventative maintenance.” With Premium Maintenance, more items are regularly checked and replaced than with Schedule 1 or Schedule 2.
Schedule 1 features the same service intervals as Premium Maintenance; however, with Schedule 1 fewer maintenance items are regularly checked or replaced than with Premium Maintenance. Nissan recommends Schedule 1 if vehicles are operated in short trips of less than five miles in normal temperatures (or 10 miles in freezing temperatures); stop-and-go traffic in hot weather or low-speed driving for long distances; driving in dusty conditions or on rough, muddy or salt-spread roads; or towing a trailer or using a camper/car-top carrier.
Schedule 2 features longer service intervals, and fewer maintenance items are regularly checked or replaced than with Schedule 1. Nissan recommends Schedule 2 only for “highway driving in temperate conditions.”
Premium Maintenance
Every 3,750 miles:
• Replace engine oil and filter.
• Inspect lights, brake fluid level, clutch fluid, engine air filter, engine drive belts, power steering fluid, radiator hoses, tires, CVT fluid, washer fluid and wiper blades.
Every 7,500 miles:
• Rotate tires.
• Inspect axle and suspension parts, battery fluid level, brakes (pads and rotors), charging/starting system, drive shaft boots, exhaust system, front suspension ball joints, horn, shock absorbers/struts, steering gear and linkage, and steering linkage ball joints.
Every 15,000 miles:
• Lubricate locks/hinges.
• Replace engine air filter.
• Replace in-cabin microfilter.
• Replace wiper blades.
• Inspect air conditioning system and cruise control vacuum hoses.
Every 30,000 miles:
• Replace CVT fluid. (Optional: Flush system.)
• Replace engine coolant/flush system.
• Replace engine drive belts.
• Replace manual transmission oil.
• Replace radiator cap.
• Inspect fuel lines/connections and fuel tank vapor vent system hoses.
Every 60,000 miles:
• Replace radiator hoses.
Every 105,000 miles:
• Replace spark plugs.

Fluids and Capacities
Motor oil - SAE 5W-30. Capacity (with filter change) for both 2.5L and 3.5L engines is 4-7/8 quarts (4.6 liters).
Continuously variable transmission fluid - Nissan CVT fluid NS-2.
Coolant - Nissan Long Life Antifreeze/Coolant or equivalent. Capacity (with reservoir) for 2.5L engine is 8.0 quarts (7.6 liters); capacity (with reservoir) for 3.5L engine is 8.125 quarts (8.2 liters).
Manual transmission gear oil - Nissan Manual Transmission Fluid HQ Multi 75W-85.

It's very informative. Thanks Squid.

How can I have an Oil analysis? Is there a tool kit that helps me doing that?

I don't know about that but I do have over 205,000 miles in a Nissan over the past 6 years so I don't hesitate recommending them to people. Another thing to ask about and keep in mind is that most if not all other 4 cylinder engines from other manufacturers have timing belts which have to be changed but Nissan uses a timing chain which is why I would buy a Rogue.

Please tell me how do I reach the engine oil filter. I could hardly see it from the top (under hood), do I have to remove the under splash cover, or remove the right front wheel to gain access?

Thanks,

Eric

My recommended oil change is every 6000km or 3 mos. 6000km actually would take me to about 5 months however.
