Those of you who live snow country ( I live in Alabama, so any where it snows is snow country) that own Rogue(s), Who does it handle?

From what I read, it handles very well in snow... with winter tires.

On their first year, you could keep the all season tires but you will have to remember that they will be not as good as appropriate tires.

I live in an urban environment and we are obliged by law to get winter tires here in Quebec, and I never had any problem.
All the electronic in the car works well to be safe in snow conditions.

I just had my Rogue pulled out by a neighbor, after a 1 mile hike home in blowing snow and -15 degree wind chills.

We don't get a lot of snow and ice, just enough for things to get tricky for 2 wheel drives. Tonight I was headed up a slight incline in a turn and lost traction. First I tried without AWD lock - no luck. I turned on the AWD lock and every attempt to go forward caused my rear end to slip and the car started to crab sideways. I tried to cut the wheels and back down the incline but started a new slide and ended up off the shoulder in a snow bank.

Long story short; a neighbor pulled me out with his Chevy 4X4. Now back in the road, I was stuck again! My neighbor said I had four wheels turning, but not all at the same time - not like you would have with a low lock transfer case. He pulled me out again. It was a bit of a spectacle, with a couple of neighbors driving around us in regular front wheel drive cars.

To think I got the Rogue because I always worried about getting stuck in a front wheel drive Jetta - which NEVER actually got stuck. I guess I'm back in the old Dodge truck for now. :-/

First, you should have lock the AWD from the beginning. It is not when you are stock you do that, it is already too late.
Then, did you turn the VDC off?
You should read your user manual and try it on a snowy parking lot to learn how the car react with and without the electronic aids.

Ohio Snowbelter

I live in the snow belt in Ohio where we have over two feet of snow on the ground and expect another foot by tomorrow. My Rogue has handled very well in the snow.
I did lock it in AWD when the roads were completly snow covered.
As always though, the key to driving in snow is really about speed and good tires. Drive fast enough to get through but not much faster. Allow extra time for stopping and take turns slowly and you should be fine.

CountryRoadRogue:

What tires did you have? Conti, Dunlop or winter tires? That will make a big difference!

The Rogue handles extremely well in the snow and ice. I live on a mountain and have had no issues. When I had my 4 x 2 Xterra, there were several times that I couldn't get it up the hill to my home and ended up parking it and walking home. Haven't had that problem with the Rogue.
