Please read posts more carefully, neither I nor the other poster suggested that GDI was "NEW". You are aware another meaning of the word would be 'something different'? English can be such a tricky language.

As for using a Diesel engine, I think you might be on to something...

Much of the competition already has these new engine technologies in current models which provide high horsepower AND much better fuel efficiency. Kia/Hyundai for example have recently released their 2.4L Theta GDI engine
that to me sounds like someone who thinks that GDI is a new technology.
thats why i wrote "there is nothing new about GDI."
