Great Find! Here's the advertised MPG ratings.

Nissan Announces Pricing On All-New 2008 Rogue [Sept. 17, 07]

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (Sept. 17, 2007) - Nissan North America, Inc. today announced pricing on the all-new 2008 Nissan Rogue, which goes on sale September 18 at Nissan dealers nationwide. Rogue is Nissan’s first entry into the small crossover SUV segment. It is available in two well-equipped, high-value models, Rogue S and Rogue SL.

The starting Manufacturer’s Suggested Retail Price (MSRP) for the well-equipped 2008 Rogue S is $19,250 for the 2WD model and $20,450 for Rogue S AWD. Pricing for Rogue SL is $20,670 for 2WD and $21,870 for AWD.

All 2008 Rogue models come equipped with a standard 170-horsepower (167 hp CAL emissions) 2.5-liter 4-cylinder engine, advanced Xtronic CVTÔ (Continuously Variable Transmission), Vehicle Dynamic Control (VDC), 4-wheel disc brakes with Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) and a long list of standard safety equipment, including six air bags. An available all-new Intuitive All-Wheel Drive system with yaw moment control is also offered on both S and SL models.

Other standard Rogue equipment includes air conditioning with in-cabin microfilter, cruise control with steering wheel mounted switches, power windows and door locks, 60/40 split 2nd row rear seat, remote keyless entry, 12-volt auxiliary power outlet, AM/FM/CD audio system with four speakers, auxiliary input jack and 16-inch wheels and tires.

Rogue SL trim adds 17-inch aluminum-alloy wheels, roof rails, privacy glass, body-colored power outside mirrors, tailpipe finisher, 6-way manual driver’s seat, rear passenger heater ducts and an additional 12-volt power outlet.

Available technology features include Intelligent Key, Bluetooth® Hands-Free Phone System, XM® Satellite Radio (XM® subscription required, sold separately) and a powerful Bose®–developed audio system with AUX input and MP3 playback.

The new Nissan Rogue also offers excellent fuel economy of 22 mpg city/27 mpg highway for 2WD models and 21 mpg city/26 mpg highway for Rogue AWD models.

“Rogue’s aggressive, performance-oriented styling, powerful engine, responsive handling, and driver-focused cockpit combine with its thoughtful everyday utility to create a vehicle that shifts the way buyers, especially younger buyers, think about crossover SUVs,” said Bill Bosley, vice president and general manager, Nissan Division.

Rogue’s refined interior includes a driver-oriented cockpit, available leather-appointed seating surfaces, fold-flat front passenger’s seat and steering wheel-mounted paddle shifters. Utility is enhanced by numerous convenient storage and ultra-functionality features, including an oversized partitioned glove box, a large dual-level center console and an available innovative rear cargo organizer.

Rogue’s standard QR25DE 2.5-liter DOHC 16-valve inline 4-cylinder is rated at 170 horsepower and 175 lb-ft torque (167 hp, 170 lb-ft CAL emissions), tuned to provide ample torque in the low-to-mid rpm range for smooth, powerful acceleration and quick initial response from a standing start. Combined with the standard Nissan Xtronic CVT™, the engine offers smooth, linear and responsive acceleration feel with high-efficiency operation. Available paddle shifters provide an added level of sporty performance and driver control.

Rogue also offers a long list of standard safety features, including a Nissan Advanced Air Bag system and front seat-mounted side-impact supplemental air bags and roof-mounted curtain supplemental air bags for front and rear outboard occupants.

Five options and packages are offered for the 2008 Nissan Rogue: Premium Package (SL 2WD) $1,900; Premium Package (SL AWD) $2,200; Leather Package (SL AWD) $1,800; Moonroof (SL) $800; and splash guards at $125.

Complete pricing and options are available on the attached sheet.

Here's what I found.

Optional for SL are a sunroof and a Leather Package with leather upholstery, leather-wrapped steering wheel and shift knob, six-way power driver's seat with power lumbar support, one-touch up/down driver's window, auto-dimming rearview mirror, Homelink universal garage door opener and a compass.

A Premium Package for front-drive SL models includes Bose premium audio with seven speakers and six-disc CD changer, XM satellite radio, steering wheel-mounted audio controls, speed-sensitive volume control, paddle shifters, trip computer, outside temperature display, foldable rear cargo organizer, rear tonneau cover, fold-flat front passenger seat, fog lights, illuminated front visor mirrors, center console dual-level tray and mood lighting.

The Premium Package for AWD models has that equipment plus Bluetooth hands-free cell phone link, xenon headlights, and Nissan's Intelligent key keyless ignition.

Well I went to the Nissan site and built a 2WD 2008 Nissan Rouge SL for $23,425. Not too bad. I think we paid about that much or a little less for the wifes X-Terra in 01. I would like to phsically see and drive one first. Good looking vehicle. They must not have any in inventory down here yet. Didn't pull and results on a dealer search.

Nissan's site isn't fully up to date. I would call your dealer to see if they have one. The dealer that I went to had one, but the site said that they didn't. Most dealers should have at least one. I test drove the SL AWD with the premium package. The ride was great. Almost no wind or tire noise inside the cabin. It cruises up to highway speed. The handling was nice. I went around a cloverleaf on ramp around 50mph and there wasn't any body movement. I did a purchase order for the same package only a different color. They said they should find one in two weeks. Purchase price was 25,050. This is for the SL AWD with premium package, splash guards, and floor mats. I can't wait to get it.

That's great to hear! Right now I own a Nissan Titan with 110,000 miles and that truck will corner so I was hping that the Rogue would also be fun to drive. Nissan has always been known for making fun driving cars.

Congrats! Can't wait to see the pictures............................Wow, I better get the photo gallery installed this weekend!

Every car needs a grill

I keep stopping by the local Nissan dealer to look at their Nissan Rogue inventory, and I am seriously considering buying one. So many of its features are especially well suitable for city and suburban driving--the smooth CVT transmission, the torquey engine, the fuel economy, the options packages. The vehicle has only one shortcoming: practically no grill. Isn't it time the after-market design a shiny grill to hang on that little SUV?

William, I completely agree with you. That is one area that gives me hesitation with purchasing a new Rogue. The other is the tiny rear window. I wish it were 6" lower at the bottom so the driver could see straight out the back of the vehicle. We will probably buy one anyway, but we still have a couple of weeks to decide.

I think it too early for anyone to be making aftermarket items for this vehicle. But I have already warned my sister, the intended driver, that one of the first things Nissan will 'freshen up' is the front end, and it will most likely look considerably better when they do, and she need not cry in her Wheaties when that happens because she will already be stuck with hers.
