well, I'm in

Been a Nissan owner for the last 20 years (all Maxima's).

Pick up the Rogue 2011 AWD S tomorrow, grey, black interior, 27,000 k. Would have preferred a more blinged out vehicle, but have a teenager in the house who will be sharing until she is off to university, so I decided the less bling/power, the better, for my peace of mind.

Did any of you pick up extra warranties?

First, Conrgats! As for warranties opinions vary, and some extended warranties aren't worth the paper they're written on. HOWEVER, given the milage on your vehicle, it would be prudent to look into it.

There's a good article here Buying an extended warranty on a used car. I bought an extended warranty for my last vehicle, never used it. Had one on a '92 Saturn that I did use, BUT had a hard time getting it honored.

I don't buy ext warr for appliances, tv etc for for a new car I do. Never a good time to get hit with a repair. I pay upfront for the warr and take my chances. It's a gamble like anything else.

I bought the lifetime warr on my Caliber and had a loose tie rod end. The replaced both ends, both struts, and aligned the front end. Cost me $100 deductible. I think the dealers like the warr since they replace stuff that is maybe borderline, the cust is happy, the dealer gets paid.

I had a Ford Aerostar with the 4.0 liter engine on which the heads cracked. Warr covered.

YMMV.

you do know that the rogue falls under the 10yr/120,000mile nissan drive-train warranty right?

thats the most expensive parts in this car (tranny/trans-axle/differential). everything else can be bought on ebay, or at a junk yard. the 4cylinder engine is very easy to work on, so even if you cant fix it yourself- a mechanic wont charge you an arm & a leg.

very common in ford for the soft aluminum heads to either warp or crack.
take it from me: i ruined 2 patrol car engines, and a patrol ford expedition by warping the heads = simply by driving lol

F.O.R.D. Found On Roadside, Dead or First On Race Day (to break down). 2nd worst car I ever own was an '86 Tempo. Had it less than 2 weeks and all the oil leaked out, bad seal. About 19 months later the transaxel went up. Engine compartments a nightmare for mechanics. If you gave me a Ford, I'd trade/sell it to some some sap that didn't know better.
