New Member! Plus I have some questions

Hello all,

I bought a 2011 Rogue SV with SL package a month ago. So far I love everything about it except for a few things. Would love anyone's thoughts on the following.

1) Gas mileage stinks so far. I drive a lot so I already have over 3k on it. Best I've gotten so far is 22.7 per gallon. I look at the supposed 28 mpg highway and laugh. I'd do cartwheels if I could just get to 25 mpg. Even Nissan states you can get 400 miles on your tank but even that Math is odd. Take 400 and divide by the size of the tank (15.9 gallons) and you get a little over 25 mpg. So where does 28 highway come in?

2) Erratic gas gauge indicator. This adds to my low mpg frustration... when I fill the car up, the needle will stay on the right side for over 200 miles. One time I had driven over 225 miles and according to the gauge I still had 3/4 of tank left. Then once the needle hits near the middle mark, it starts to bolt like lighting to the left and empty. So for a long time you think, "Hey! Getting some great mileage finally!" only to then watch the needle zoom into high gear. Frustrating.

3) Anyone with usb port for your iPod sometime have problems with the connection? Sometimes for no reason the connection will be lost.

4) I hate, hate, hate the automatic A/C option. When you have it set to auto and it's a very hot or cold day, the air comes on like a jet engine once you start the car. Anyone one with a brain knows that the car is not going to get warmer or hotter any faster by doing this, plus it's not good for the engine. Am I possibly doing something wrong?

Many thanks to all in advance!

1) Change your way of driving, the CVT requires it if you want to get advantage of it. Also, slow down on the highway and stay within the speed limit.

2) All my cars, included this one of course, have done the same. Nothing strange here for me.

3) Don't have it on mine, so I cannot comment.

4)That is why I never had and hope to never have an auto climate control. That is how all are working from what I gathered, and like you, I find it stupid. Even if I get a car with auto climate control, I will probably leave it in manual mode, like my dad is doing.

1. I am a brand new Rogue owner so I can't speak to the mileage issue at this time. I barely have 200 km on the vehicle.
2. All gas gauges have their own quirks. I have had many that act in the same way as yours, some more dramatically than others. You'll get used to how yours reacts, and then be able to act accordingly. I like using the 'number of miles/km remaining' for a more accurate reading.
3. Have the usb port but haven't used it yet.
4. I love the climate control and would never buy a vehicle without it. To me, it's "set it and forget it". BTW, if it's cold out, the fan shouldn't come on until the engine warms up a bit.

Good luck.
