Can anyone tell me the small round button on the left side of the shifter, what is this button for?

Oh, but I don't have an overdrive light come on the dash. I wasn't aware we had overdrive on these cars.

The car is set for overdrive. When you push in the button you will take it out of overdrive. The RPM should go up and an overdrive light should come on then.
