2010 Front Speakers

First post here.
Just bought new 2010 Rogue 360, black on black.
The stock, non Bose, speakers are aweful. I started researching replacement speakers and I have found that the 6x9 front speakers have such a shallow mounting depth and less that a 1/4" space from the mount to the grill that any aftermarket 3way 6x9 speakers wont fit; the tweeter projects too far out. Crutchfield wants to sell me 5 1/2" speakers (with custom mounting bracket) with 1" seperate tweeters which I would have to flush mount somewhere. I would rather not do that. Question: Has anyone replaced the fronts with 3 way speakers, if so what kind? Any and all thought are appreciated.

Thanks,
Tom

The problem comes more from the radio unit more than the speakers (even if that has the Bose name brand on it).
First change the radio unit by a good aftermarket, and if that doesn't satisfy you, you will have to change the speakers.
Most people find it enough to change the unit, but everyone is different.

Thumbs down

Thanks for the thoughts. Stock speakers are "full range" 6"x9". No matter what head unit is in you will never be able to adjust the treble and bass completely independent of one another. The stock speakers sound very flat. I think it is a piss poor design that Nissan did not allow enough depth, from the grill to the end of the magnet on the speaker, to allow for 3-way speaker upgrade. When I take this thing apart and modify the area to allow for better speakers I will share what I did with you all.
