Garmin GPS mounted...

Well, since Nissan doesn't even offer a GPS, I did
my own thing with a Garmin GPS...I added a
couple of pictures showing that the Garmin
matches pretty darn close to the factory interior
and I mounted it in the best of all possible
locations.....I don't like the windshield mounts.

Yes, it would look better if it was integrated, but,
for a portable, it'll do just fine....it certainly could
have looked alot worse...

I attached the thumbnail picture below...

Looks pretty good. For the mounting, is that something you fashioned, or did it come with the GPS? How is it mounted there?

I have my Sat radio vent mounted right now and like the location, don't like the wires, so I'm going to try and change things around when the warmer weather comes along.

Garmin GPS mounting...

What is a Sat vent?? Whatever it is, I guess I
don't need it as my factory radio has satellite
built in....

To mount my Garmin: ..its factory mount is a two
piece mount...I just used the half that snaps on to
the unit. On that piece, I used professional
stength velcro so that I can still keep it as a
portable. The unit is so light that the heavy duty
velcro holds it quite firm, it doesn't shake or
vibrate around at all.... it won't come loose
unless I take it loose. Since the Garmin is a
portable, no wires to worry about....I just plug it
in to my utility socket and re-charge the internal
battery when it needs it. You can't see the velcro
at all, so, my installation looks quite clean...it's the
best it could be, without it being an integrated
unit.

Not only that but the thing would be subjected to all kinds of temperatures so I do not think that is a good location plus you loose one air outlet.

That's pretty cool. I had one in my Mustang that I traded in for the Rogue. I have a windshield mount, but the wire isn't long enough to make it to the center console. And if I use the pug by the gear shift, my knee hits it.

I do like leaving mine plugged in, as its brighter when plugged in instead of operating on just battery. But, if you don't mind that, then that solves the wire issue completely. Nice job!

I'm just wondering if anyone tried to mount a garmin to the console panel in front of the shifter? I just bought a garmin 2460 for my girlfriend and wanted to install it below the window line as to not attract thieves. I was thinking about cutting a hole in that panel to flush mount it, does anyone know if there is any room behind that panel? She works nights and I work days, that doesn't leave me with much time to mess with her car, maybe you guys can help me with the recon work. thanks in advance.

I'm not sure, 2010-2011 and it's the base model. like I said, it's my gf's car. I have so many things I would like to do to it cause I'm way into modding cars, but it's a lease so she won't let me touch it. lol. she seems somewhat receptive to a custom install for the gps, but I can't find any ideas for location.
