i manage a salvage yard's online sales portion of the business. so take my word for what its worth.

you will need to reprogram, AND THEY ARE REPROGRAMMABLE as long as you buy the correct ECM/ECU by CONFIRMING AND/OR MATCHING ID NUMBERS & VEHICLE CHARACTERISTICS AS APPLICABLE, you will be fine.

you need to figure out if your car is California or Federal Emissions (found under the hood on a sticker) and if its FWD or AWD.

you will need to match it up by the numbers on your ECM, and a special number from your vin-plate.

you can find them on ebay listed by junk-yards for $100-$300. JUST MAKE SURE YOU MATCH THE NUMBERS!

I can't think of any reason why a boneyard ecm couldn't be programmed, so long as its the right one for your car and isn't damaged.

One question though...how do you know for a fact yours is kaput?
