Do you see any improvement in nighttime driving? Sylvania claims the Ultra's provide a 50% wider path, 40% increase in distance and about 50% brighter vs standard bulbs. http://assets.sylvania.com/assets/im...482981014e.jpg

But the OEM's weren't standard bulbs, so i'm guessing the gain wouldn't be that much.

I don't know what you mean by"the OEM's weren't standard bulbs"

I thought the OEM hibeams were nothing special.

I didn't get out in the country darkness yet and the snowcover we have lightens up the night a bit. I find the HOD lows are great the vast majority of the time.

Almost all of the beam pattern has to do with the shape and positioning of the reflector and not the bulb. The Silverstars put more light on the road because they're put out more usable light.

I had a noticable difference when I put Silverstars in the lows on my 02 Altima and a big improvement when I did the lows and highs in my 2000 Silverado. Both of those were running OEM bulbs.

Can you clarify what this means?

Yeah, going from stock OEM halogens to Silverstars is a big improvement, but the HID's are so completely different that Silverstars still look yellowish.

Overall, I am pleased with the HID's. They were a must have on my new car, and in fact I eliminated some cars from the running since they didn't have HID's. Dealer didn't understand but what of that?

I was just reading about this too and noticed the fine print. Sylvania claims that a bulb loses 20% of it brightness over its lifetime, they go on to say their brightness claims are based on an old bulb working at 80% versus a Silverstar working at 100%.

Lets do the math.

Say the old bulb is good for 1000 lumens when new, that means its running at 800 lumens during Sylvania's comparison. 50% brighter than that is 1200 lumens...still brighter than the old halogen bulb, but when comparing apples to apples its really only 20% brighter, not 50%.

Just an FYI, I've used Silverstars in multiple vehicles...they work really well and last a long time.

@mayhem, it looks like you got what I ment. Sylvania's claims are based on standard bulbs, however Rogues aren't sold with standard bulbs. What I was clumsily trying to say was the difference in performance between the stock OEM bulbs and Silverstars would be neglible.

No, the highbeams and fog lights are "standard" bulbs.
