Rogue won't go above 3000 RPMs

I just got back from a road trip to San Diego. On my way there, after around 250 miles of highway driving, at random times the car wouldn't go above 3000RPMs.

More info:

- 2009 Rogue, 4 cycl, 30k miles.
- Starts to happen around 250 miles of highway speeds (70-85mph)
- When it happens, can't accelerate over 3000RPMs.
- When floored, it will hit 3000 RPMs, and bounce back to 2700RPMs, if I continue flooring car, it will go up to 3000 RPMs and stay there.
- Usually fixes itself after 15 or so minutes, can also stop the car and it will fix itself.
- When it's working fine, when floored, it will hit 3500 RPMs and speed will increase.
- Only happens during excessive highway usage. If I go into a city and drive constant 45-50, it's fine (even after 250+ miles)
- No engine / maintenance lights

I took it into the Nissan dealership in San Diego, they said since there were no computer error codes, they can't do anything. I drove it back from San Diego a few days later, and it happened again after 250 miles.

Since it only happens on road trips (excessive highway driving) the dealers are going to screw me and tell me they can't reproduce it.

Has anyone seen this before? I talked to a few dealerships and surprising nobody has heard of this. To me, it sounds like a overheating issue and the computer limiting the car automatically, but I don't know much about cars.

Help?

Best thing to do is to record it from your cell phone, I know it is SAD but at this point we have no choice.
I never had this problem before.

I'm not sure if it would apply to the Rogue, but I had a Dakota with the same issue and it turned out to be a cam position sensor.
