Is this normal Seems to me I have to decide how much I want to accelerate and not change my mind until I'm up to speed. If I press the throttle further as its accelerating, nothing changes? A standard tranny would kick down, but of course the cvt does not. The Jukes setup was way more responsive when we drove about 4 of them trying to decide which one to get. In the end, it was just too small, but it was a lot more fun and the engine tranny combo worked a lot better. The Rogue is a slug by comparison. Its too bad they did away with the paddle shifters. They would have been fun, and would also allow some further acceleration and engine braking control.

My 08 is a lot like that, but if I give it enough gas it will eventually rev higher. You have to press significantly further than you would have had to in a conventional automatic. The computer does all the thinking for you and sometimes it doesn't know any better. Stand on it for a sec and it'll go right up to the redline and hang there.

| I agree that the paddle shifting (manual ratios) was a great idea. I have that in my Ddoge Caliber. It has 7 fixed ratios. Option cost $75. Best $75 I ever spend since I was downtown last. I was enamored of the Juke but had to rule it out as too small. Never got to drive it. Was afraid I'd really want it over the Rogue. Overall I'm ok with the Rogue. You just have to know and accept its limitations.

you know what i else i find weird? you pass a car on the highway, and look down at your RPM gauge. its sitting around 2,700RPM. your doing a steady 75mph now. release the gas pedal, and it all of a sudden changes the gear ratio- and its sitting now at 2100rpm, and your travel speed has not changed. -HAD YOU NOT RELEASED THE GAS PEDAL AND CONTINUED TRAVELING, YOU WOULD BE STILL SITTING AT 2700RPM WASTING GAS. its almost like the computer was programed to expect you to pass someone else, and need that high rpm (gear ratio) so it stays there, waiting, and waiting, and waiting - but never gives up. i did this for like a mile! i pushed the gas pedal and let it so-called "down-shift" and then sat there. i traveled about a mile well over 3,000rpm needlessly.(just to see if this thing would give up or not) - NOPE>>> just sat well over 3,000rpm waiting lol really stupid, and needs to be reprogrammed. i guess time will tell how they keep working out the computer software on the cvt.

I feel like im driving an old ford sometimes, where you had to let off the gas-pedal for the tranny to shift UP, and then re-apply the gas-pedal; otherwise it would have just sat in the same gear in a high RPM for no reason. -thats really the best way i can describe it.

its tough, you really gotta use the new car for a while. until you notice the little things. but its funny you mention that- im today after going back to the dealer i bought my Rougster at, and testing driving a lincoln towncar for my dads limo business. (all limo company owners are scooping every and ANY towncar up since ford stopped production on them)
