Gas Mileage poor so far!!! We've only had our 2011 Rogue SL now for about three weeks. I was on the NJ Turnpike the other day and noticed I was only getting about 22 miles per gallon. I was averaging about 65 to 70 miles an hour. I realize gas mileage depends on a lot of factors, but I'm just wondering if the car hasn't been broken in yet enough?? I have about 700 miles on it so far. I will be traveling tomorrow on a two-hour drive up to NY. We'll see if the mileage is any better. We all know they advertise this SUV to get up to 28 miles a gallon on the highway. I doubt I will ever attain that. Any input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, guys!! BTW, this is a great forum to learn anything you want to know about the Rogue. ![]() ![]()

I noticed a huge difference when I go 55 than if i go 65 or 70. i get way better gas mileage going slower. Also the car will break in after a while, actually if you read the owners manual you should not go 70 in the first 1000 miles. Not that I followed that advice myself! just saying!

Rogue2011, you have my MPG beat. I have had my 2011 Rogue AWD for one month. Gone through 3 tanks of gas and with each one, the mileage is worse. It is currently only 21.5. I drive about 70% highway and most of that, I use the cruise control. I consulted the service dept. hoping for some input and suggestions, maybe an adjustment needed. All I got was "that's within the average on the sticker, nothing we can do about it". I am pretty disgusted right now.

Well, I just got home from my 200 miles trip today. I was averaging around 65 miles per hour and the highest MPG was 22.5 on the turnpike. I have about 900 miles on it now. I'm hoping after the car's broke in a little that it will go up. We'll see what happens. Thanks for your input. I appreciate it!! By the way, I thought the leather seats were very comfortable the whole way, and also the GPS worked great!! I'll write back after I have a few more miles on it . Thanks again!! Steve

Even though they recommend a few hundred miles of varying speed and not towing anything, it can take 3,000 to 5,000 miles to truly "break in" the motor as far gas mileage is concerned. And of course, the winter gas is horrible for gas mileage.

Reporting in on today's trip in my Rogue 2011 SL/SV. I filled the tank with regular unleaded and put the trip monitor back to zero. Drove from Santa Barbara to Hollywood on Route 101 and back with a couple of short side trips to shop. Total of 195 miles. I got 25.5 mpg for this trip. I drove the speed limit, 65 mph with the cruise control when traffic was not heavy. Average speed was set back too and it now says my average speed was 56 mgp. Of note is that this stretch of road is not in good repair, lots of rough spots which I suspect has an effect on the mpg.
