| An AWD question!! I just had a general question about AWD on our 2011 Rogue. We just bought this SUV and I haven't had time to read the manual yet. Do you have to engage the AWD switch when needed or is it automatic? We are supposed to get some snow and ice this weekend and I was just wondering if we have to do anything manually. Thanks for your input!! I appreciate it. Gary (NJ) |

| I just bought a 2011 Nissan Rogue and from what I understand is that the SUV is always in AWD and there is a button to the lower left of ther steering wheel where you can lock AWD. In fact, i can recall pushing it and my dashboard displaying AWD LOCK. |

| Most all wheel drives are automatic but only put about 30% to the rear when its a Front Wheel drive platform. But when on heavy ice or snow its best to lock the awd in so that the power is equal and you dont have to wait for the computer to respond to the wheels slipping. By the time the computer takes control its too late and your in the ditch. Lock it in before you put the car into gear or less than 10 mph. Also when turning in a parking lot you will notice it grabbing more. So if having to make a tight turn unlock it.

| AWD is always ON, if your computer sense that your wheel is slipping it will goes to AWD. unless your are in heavy snow you need to push manually your AWD switch.. but i never use it and up here in canada snow is brutal and my computer does all the job you will need that switch if you are stuck or something you need all you 4 wheels, but on normal driving or snow driving, you dont need |
