this one statement will sum up how to get the
best mileage out of our Rogues....I know, I do it,
and I'm amazed at the mileage I'm getting.....
would you believe 28.5 up and down the mountains
of Colorado with the a/c on....believe it!

Here it is...

"Drive it like you have an open cup of hot coffee
sit'n balanced on the dash...." simple huh!

try it....

31 mpg

Yes, you read it right, I was still able to improve my mileage.

802 kms for only 60.9 liters gives 7.59 LHK or 31 mpg.

Second time over 800 kms on a tank, and I got still some left but not enough for my day commute (gas cheaper downtown than southshore this time).

With the help of my new toy, a scangauge, I noticed that while the car water temperature is not yet up to temperature, it is better to put the car on Neutral while waiting at lights as it uses less gas. At operating temperature, staying in Drive won't change anything.

Been really gentle on the gas pedal until you are at operating temperature helps also a lot with mileage. After it is just looking far ahead, releasing the gas pedal as soon as you know that we will have to stop (try to drive like you don't have brakes anymore so you have to anticipate more).

Another change that I did on the car but I don't know how much effect it had, is increase tire pressure to 42 psi cold (tire maximum pressure is 44 psi). The drive is a little bit rougher but still good in my opinion.

I will see on the weekend how my wife feels about that, she is the butt sensible one.

Last Thursday was just about two weeks since we bought our Rogue. The fuel light came on so here's how it went;

566 km or 352 mi (80% city, A/C on)
Fuel put in - 55 lt or 12.1 Imp gal or 14.5 US gal
Works out to - 29.09 mpg Imp or 24.28 mpg US or
9.7 Lt/100 KM

Friday morning we made a quick trip to Toronto and here is how it worked out (100% hwy, A/C on)

Barrie - Toronto 79 km or 49 mi
Fuel used 7.6 lt or 1.67 Imp gal or 2.0 US gal
35.31 mpg Imp or 29.4 mpg US or 8.0Lt/100 KM

Toronto - Barrie 79 km or 49 mi
Fuel used 7.9 lt or 1.73 Imp gal or 2.1 US gal
34.03 mpg Imp or 28.34 mpg US or 8.3Lt/100 KM

Total mileage on the vehicle at this point - 746KM or 464 mi.

Hey Pescakl1. You are getting way better MPG than you thought. I'll explain.....as per your figures...
802 KM = 498 MI
60.9 LT = 13.4 Gal Imp or 16.09 Gal US (60.9 divided by 4.546 for Imp and divided by 3.786 for US)
= 37.16 MPG Imp or 30.95 MPG US which equals 7.59 LT/100 KM

Fantastic

Edit: My appologies......I expected that, coming from Canada, you were quoting your MPG in Imperial rather than in US. Whenever I see the US MPG it looks like the MPG isn't very good.

Filled up my AWD S for the first time yesterday and averaged 22.47 mpg. Mostly rural and highway not too much stop and go.

32.35 mpg on this one

868 kms with a little more than 63 liters of gas brings me 7.27 lhk (= 32.35 mpg).

Strangely, the scangauge indicated 7.0 (which means between 7.0 and 7.1). I rechecked the calibration and everything seems to be on pair.
It indicated that I did about 5 more kms but it is not enough to make that much of a difference in fuel mileage.

Don't know, don't understand.

The next tank will be all at 100 kmh on highway so it should be closer to 7.0 lhk.

Anyone elses gas mileage getting worse.

For some reason my gas mileage seems to be getting progressively worse. Shouldn't it be getting better? Here's is a sample of the fill-ups since my last post.

9/30/2008, 48.286 lt, 436 Km, 11.1 L/Km or 25.43 MPG (Imp)
9/19/2008, 25.210 lt, 233 Km, 10.9 L/KM or 25.92
9/14/2008, 50.568 lt, 559 Km, 10.8 L/Km or 26.16
9/12/2008, 37.733 lt, 334 Km, 9 L/Km or 31.39

Since it is getting colder out there, gas mileage dropped a bit.

Reading from my scangauge, I usually do about 7.0lhk on my commute (a little bit better coming home), and at the end of last week, I did 7.5 lhk on my way home after that the car seated in 10C weather for the day (car was not fully warn when I hit the highway as it usually is).

This morning, starting from the garage, I did again 7.0 lhk to go to work. But it is 10C outside, so I don't think I will do good this afternoon coming back home.

Could be also the winter gas coming in the gas stations already. I understand that can play a little bit on the gas mileage.

I think I will have to wait for next year to do a 900kms tank.

Got the best mileage in my Rogue yet! About 7.2l/100km! SWEET! And the "low" cost of gas these days, it was the cheapest fill-up ever in my Rogue!
