What is this LED for ? If you're sitting in your SL Rogue either in the driver's seat or the passenger seat and look directly overhead with your headlights turned on you'll see a small pinkish LED. As all of you know, with either the headlights or parking lights turned on, the dashboard has a very nice indicator for the lights being turned on. So my question is, what's the purpose of this rather small LED ? Did I miss something in the owner's manual ? or is there another application for that LED I'm not aware of ? Your thoughts would be appreciated.

LED light Why ?? Wilh - I checked out your theory, although it is a super cool light in the darkness it seems that Nissan went to a great expense to just make that tiny little LED to bathe the cup holders. Also I noticed that all the other intruments on the console light up in that scenario so that its really not necessary for the LED to light just the cupholders. That's why I think there is something more to it. Something much bigger than the 3 of us know. Is this a conspiricy theory ?

Wilhannes is right. It is there just to give you (it comes only with the premium package) some ambient light at night in order you to see your interior. In order to better see what it does, put your thumb on it and remove it. It may be small and doesn't lit that much when you look at it, but it brings some useful light from what I read. In my opinion, they should have lit up the windows button first before putting this small led over there. By the way, should not this led be the same colour as the dash ones, orange?

Great expense? To mount a single LED? Doesn't seem like much of an expense to me. It should be orange/amber like the rest of the interior lighting. |

Map Light ? I don't believe it was intended as a map light. There are 2 much larger incandescent map lights located adjacent to this little LED. The map lights could also be used for other purposes within the cabin such as viewing the cup holders or dash board at night much more effeciently. This still leaves me wondering why it's there. I guess it will be one of those little Nissan mysteries of life.
