Wind noise at 80mph

We took our new Rogue out on the highway for the 1st time the other day. Noticed an occasional howling noise coming from the driver side uper corner of the windshield area. Noticed it a couple of times. Is this common? FYI: no roof rack, AWD S model. Is this isolated to our car or have others noticed similar?

YES! I thought you'd think I was nuts if I tried to describe our problem, but thats it exactly! I heard it last week for the first time on the 401! We have a roof rack though so I thought maybe it was just whistling through there...?

It's my wife's car so I don't drive it much and she only works a mile from the house. So this weekend I will try it again (80 mph on the highway) It was storming pretty bad, so it may have been a cross wind, but if it does it again, it will be going to the dealer. Thanks for the info.

My Rogue makes the same noise. I do have a roof rack, but noticed that when a window was cracked the problem went away. With approximately 80 to 100 MPH of drag on the car (including wind) the car makes a noise from the window. When the window is cracked and the speed is maintained, the noise is eliminated, not drowned out by the noise from the wind, but eliminated. It is almost as if there is a vacuum problem.

Thanks for that info spin. We'll be heading out tonight and I will try that as well. I don'tthink it should be that way, but I want to be able to recreate on command. This way when the service advisor says he can't find/hear it, I can take him for a ride.

Bought our daughter the SL and the wind noise is HORRIBLE. Dealer has already replaced two pieces on each side of front window where the wind tunnels through at high speeds, but the noise is not reduced in the slightest. Will be checking back Monday morning early! What a hassle. If anyone gets this figured out, please post!

Glad to hear that others are experiencing this. We're having the same problem on an SL AWD with cross bars. Speed at which howling occurs seems to vary but it's often at 80 or so... Sometimes adjusting the driver's window seems to help. Other times we just end up slowing down a bit (not the preferable solution when crossing West Texas though).

Found another with the problem

Just emailed another owner having the same problem in another part of the state and he has had his car to the service dept. numerous times also.

Our service department is checking around to see if other dealerships in surrounding states have had the problem and what, if anything, has made the noise stop.

If everyone would keep checking we can maybe get this figured out. But car will not work for us as is.

I have found the same problem about 75 to 80 mph with a cross wind. I found by slightly opening a window it stops.
