What is behind rear view mirror and EZ Pass

Just wondering, what is that black tint on the glass for behinf the rear view mirror? Also the solid black stripe down the center of that.

I have an SL AWD model, no leather package.

Where have you guys put your EZ Pass thingy?

Thanks

I believe the black tint, or the little section of black dots behind the mirror is to just block the sun where your visor doesn't...

Also, not sure about the black line, I've seen it, but never really looked at it.. It could be the temperature sensor for the outside temp..

My wife and I also wondered about where to put our ez pass.. I don't want to stick it there and have it pull off the black dots when we remove it.

I have the same on my Altima. Removing the I-Pass has not caused the dots to come off. In Illinois they provide a velcro for the I-Pass that has more of a gummy adhesive and simply lifts off and is reusable. I used my I-Pass as a sun shield where the visors would not reach.

You should be able to place your tag behind and slightly to the right of the rearview mirror (no need to put it over the dots if you're concerned about them). From the driver's seat you won't be able to see the tag. Our Harris County (i.e. Houston, TX) toll road tags have always come with instructions to mount tags like this.

We usually put it right in the dash on the speaker. When you accelerate the EZ PAss thingy slides off the dash for an easy catch and quick storage in the cener console.

LOL, must people can't do that because it interferes with their texting.

I installed the EZ Pass just under the black stuff and behind the mirror so it does not interfere at all with the driver's view.

the black stuff is a form of tint that is used on many cars front & rear. its actually along the edges of front & rear windows too. its actually ceramic and WILL NOT COME OFF.
when you tint a rear window, or that strip in the front, and the black stuff/dots are on there- you actually gotta sand it down with a fine sand-paper to level it enough for the tint to have glass to stick too.
trust me when i tell you- those black dots are not going anywhere with ezpass velcro stick-ons!
