| JUST INSTALLED 20% TINT ON MY 2008 GOTHAM GRAY SL I dont know why, but i just can not justify spending $200+ on tints. Im not cheap by any means, but at the end of the day, i refuse to spend that much on window stickers. I have always tinkered around with cars and race-bikes so a year ago or so i ordered pre-cut window tints from some horrible site for my girl's 2010 G37s coupe. It ended up being a complete disaster. The film was so thick and not easy to work with- it refused to take on the curved windows even with a heat gun. But then i found another tint/vinyl supplier RVinyl. I ordered his products and installed it onto my 2002 maxima. I loved the way it went on. Very-Very easy to work with. Thin, Durable, Sticky, and doesnt have that weird green metallic hue that many cheaper films have. Nor was it purple! Maxima turned out great! ![]() So when i got the New Rogue, i figured - I GOTTA TINT IT! went on his site, and ordered another package of pre-cut window tint film. this time it was pre-cut for my rogue Came packaged well, not bent, in a nice box. Came with instructions, warranty card, etc- this guy is clearly a stand up guy. I will throw up some basic instructions (because this job is really basic) Precut Window Tint Nissan Rogue 2008 - 2011 ON THAT LINK THEY CAN SUPPLY YOU WITH SPRAY SOLUTION, SQUEEGEE'S ETC. 1. Windex your window really well. inside & out 2. roll your window down and clean the rubber seal that the window makes contact with when closed. you dont want that to be dirty as you roll your window back up. 3. (front doors) look into your chrome door opening handle. you will see a little black box behind the chrome door handle. pry that black box cover off and find a silver bolt. unbolt it. Now pry your plastic silver long semi-vertical door handle grip off from the bottom. the spot to pry it off will be from the bottom. behind that silver long semi-vertical door handle will be 2 more bolts. unbolt them too. 4. now that your door panel is unbolted- its held on only by plastic push rivets. starting from the bottom, pry the whole panel off. its on tightly, so use some force but be equal about it. dont keep prying in one spot. the top of the panel actually hangs on the metal door frame, so dont pry there. you will lift it off from the top. once you have dis-attached the door panel from the door frame just lay it down gently. careful of the speaker ![]() ![]() 5. now you can roll your window back up 90% of the way and take a flat razor blade scraper and start cleaning your window with that. lay the blade flat and spray windex to lube the glass and start scraping the flat blade to remove a lot of hidden sticky gunk on the glass and oils, making sure to cover your tracks and work that top of the window where the glass meets the window rubber seal- cleaner than a cat cleans his... ______. (i purchased this razor scraper from home depot for under $3.)) When i say clean well, i really mean clean it all over. every edge, while spraying Windex on it and wiping off with a bounty towel. Clean all over 2,3,4,5 times. prep is key to having your tint last a long time without pealing or growing air bubbles. any dirt or specks will be shown through the tint with a bubble and with summer sun, that bubble will grow. CLEAN WELL USING A CLEAN PIECE OF BOUNTY EACH TIME! YOU DONT WANT TO PLACE OLD DIRT BACK ONTO THE RAZOR BLADE OR WINDOW!! if you by accident touch the window with your hand, clean it- your skin has oil! 6. now when your window is super clean, roll it down minus half an inch from the top. NOW YOU WILL NEED A SPRAY BOTTLE FILLED WITH WATER(i prefer distilled for mineral free residue) AND 1 TABLE SPOON OF DISH WASHER SOAP. this is the spray bottle i used for under $1 Spray your window down with this solution. it will help with moving the tint around. (you apply from the inside, so make sure you have the right side)Take your window tint film and slowly peal the appropriate window and spray it as you go with the soap/water solution. once its completely off the clear backing apply it to the window. with the soap solution between the glass & film you will see its easy to move and adjust. insert the film in the door jam, and window edges. 7. take your squeegee (rvinyl sells these too) and gently adjust your film with your hands, holding the film in place, and take one gentle swipe with the squeegee downward to remove some of the soapy water, to help the tint stay in place. gently readjust your tint so that its 1 millimeter off the top of the window. and take another swipe with the squeegee. keep swiping and checking adjustment as you go. work half-way up, and half-way downward you will see that now much of the water/soap solution is gone. work the top now really well. being gentle, yet firm. once you feel the top is stuck on, and solution free you may now roll the window up into the door (fully closed position) and start working half of the window, downward into the now area that was in the door jam before. once the film is really firm on the glass, check the outside of the door/window for any bubbles that still maybe around. take your squeegee and wrap it in a clean piece of bounty and use that to really press firmly on the tint and push bubbles out(the bounty will create a safe soft barrier between the squeegee and film). again check the outside of the window, on many angles to make sure all the bubbles are out, and the film is nicely installed. [if you have a heat gun, or a hair drier handy it will help. you can put it on warm, NOT HOT setting and gently heat the outside of the window to stimulate the glue and warm the film to really adhere to the window - as you work the squeegee from the inside.] -now you are done! just replace the panel on the door and let the film dry (dont open or touch the window for at least 3 days.) [the rear doors, dont have the same door handle with the two bolts. so you need to look inside the door handle cup thing, and see a round black circular cap. pop that off and you will see a black screw in there. unscrew that along with the same black square in the chrome door opener handle] PS:i also didnt do the rear most window. im going to be towing wifey's and my race-bikes to the track and dont want to not see while backing up with a trailer. the OEM tint is dark enough for me. it blends in nicely with the rest of the windows. this is a 20% film. its not dark at all from the inside. this is a photo without flash. my back windows were already tinted from the factor. (factory tint in not a film- so scrape away without fear when cleaning) |

| My son had a run in with the State Police over window tint, even though it was perfectly legal. Cost us a bit to fight in court. Agreed it gooks good but I can't take the risk where I live.

| It's not BS. I don't just make stuff up to post. But I stated only the beginning and the end of the story. My son got pulled over for "suspicious window tint" that turned out to be legal after it was checked for light transmission. My son was returning home from college with a couple of riders he didn't know. Officer saw and smelled an air freshener which he thought was to cover the smell of "burning leaves" and my son foolishly consented to a search. Turns out one of his riders had a pharmacy in his backpack and my son was held liable as the driver. We won in court. My point was that the legal window tint led to a court fight that wasn't related to the tint itself. Actually it didn't cost that much, considering the alternative which would have been equal to a DUI charge and all the nastiness that comes with that.

I also do understand that your son, being a young kid didnt know nor understand that his help could end up in his car being impounded and him arrested. What is weird is, your son being the driver, and the kid with his pharmacy INSIDE HIS BAG- your son was not in the "complete care & control" of the stuff.(so why arrest everyone?) The kid must have simply placed the bag down, and refused to claim it his- so everyone went down. A simple search of the bag could yield who it belongs too- but then again, a bunch of dirty laundry doesn't always hold a name. i never allow anyone into my car that i cant trust. I dont hang out with drug users, or those to sell. this is why i dont mind tint. i dont have illegal weapons or drugs in my car- so pull me over all you want; i could care less- give me the ticket if you wish and have a good day. (PS: wanna talk about getting it stuck too? - while in my fully marked patrol SUV, on duty, with a prisoner in the back- driving out of state doing a prisoner drop-off because he had a warrant. while traveling through another state[i shall keep it private due to the sensitivity of the matter] a trooper was using laser on a well traveled highway filled with 18wheelers and plenty smaller cars. traffic was traveling at a steady 75mph-80mph, in the 65mphzone. while doing fugitive extraditions/drop offs- often time you have to create and increase gap between cars that have been behind you for a while. its a simple way to know who is tailing you. getting tailed & high-jacked is not something any agent and his partner want to get into, especially out of state. anyway- this trooper bangs me out in the high 80's) pull us over, investigates who we are, what we are doing, and says he wont keep us any longer and will make this quick- COMES BACK HANDS ME BADGE, LICENSE AND AND A SPEEDING TICKET FOR 87 IN A 65 AND TELLS US TO ENJOY OUR DAY. So you want officers like this to treat your young son with respect and care, and due diligence? you want officers to not violate the rights and take advantage of youngsters? - YA RIGHT! obviously not everyone is like that, when i was on patrol and had interaction with people respectful people- (young/old/students/moms/nurses/firefighters/soldiers/etc) there was always a level of no need to stick it to 'em mentality. plenty of dirt-balls out there to "stick it to" and its gonna be well deserved too! |

I have since been running an online business selling auto parts online for a local salvage yard. At least im only 27 and not 45starting a new career. (ps: i have brand new silver & black rogue spoilers) back to your question: what do i think of CP's? What can i say: i am also ex military, and understand the dangers, and added values associated with firearms. In the hands of responsible citizens- WE ALL ARE SAFER.(officers included. if armed citizens are driving by, and see an officer in grave danger on the side of the road, guess what- odds are the armed citizen will be more likely to pull over and help out. even it means to get out, acquire a site picture and give verbal commands all the while maintaining a safe distance. the dirt-bags would drop or flea like roaches, and not continue to pummel the officer.) CRIMINALS DONT LISTEN TO GUN LAWS, HENCE WHY THEY ARE CALLED "CRIMINALS." - so the only ones gun-laws disarm, are the ones who listen to laws. the same who wouldn't go around shooting people for an unlawful reason. Every time i had interactions with people while in uniform, i always understood that dirt-bags are armed- no matter what laws we have on the books; so i never felt completely safe in this liberal gun-hating state of NJ. so if law-abiding mentally sound citizens obtained guns and were allowed to carry then, it would not have made my job any more complicated. oh ya, im a hard-core conservative LOL |
