| If my doors rust I'll send them to Japan myself! And I live in the rust belt, MN. Car turns white in the winter. And washing just drives the salt into all the nooks and crannies of the body and frame.

| Basically it's a garage where they put a thick Vaseline type substance in the doors , fenders, trunk ETC, the under carriage of the vehicle is sprayed with like a TAR substance which becomes hard so the salt does not penetrate and eat at the metal. I got the treatment from the dealer. They actually removed parts off the vehicle to treat them with the anti-rust substance. we also have some shops here in Montreal where they make Holes in your doors and spray the insides and fenders ETC with a thick oil . Personally I hate the fact that they have to make holes. You over pay at the dealer however it lasts wayyyyy longer |

| Yeah, we get an "environmental protection" pkg from the dealer which includes rustproofing, undercoating, paint sealant, and fabric protection. I find that rust thru is based more on how the car was "put together" rather than specific treatment. Also most people never wax their cars and I think that helps protect the paint. I recall they used to make holes but now they tell me the holes in the doors are already there. I usually have very few rust problems. I had a Ford Aerostar van (1990) which had some rustthru under the doors. The 2004 Aveo was starting to rust at the bottom of the doors. Once rust starts I usually dump the car. Usually there's about 150k miles on it at that point and I'm ready to move on.
