| With the price of the gas these days, I wanted to have a locking gas cap. I did some research and find this: You have two brands which produce this cap: STANT: PN 10508 or 11508 (was not able to find differences between the two). GATES: PN 31836 It seems that is quite standard on Nissan cars. For the US, you can buy it at Auto Parts Fast at RockAuto. For canadians, with the shipping, it is the same price to buy it at Carquest for example (that it is where I got mine). I was surprised to see that Nissan did not lock the gas door as on any other models, that is why I bought a locking cap. But recently, a friend of mine bought a Mazda Tribute, and I noticed that its car did not have any protection for his gas tank (no locking door nor locking cap). When asked, he told me that the car manufacturers found a way for the tank not to be siphoned off, therefore the locking door was not necessary anymore... meaning that I spent 36$ for nothing ![]() Does anyone have more information on that? |
