Dirt Under Front Doors...factory defect?

Guys and gals, this came from a different forum,so
thought it important to list it here.

The weather seal attached to the bottom of each
of our front doors is scratching the crap out of
our lower door frames, some scratches down to
the metal. (dirt collects there and scratches the
paint) We all need to report this to our Nissan
dealerships so that a fix gets generated from
Nissan, and we need to do it immediately.

I'm sure you will find the same scratches on yours
once you check...

I just checked mine...(1400mi on the odo), and
I've got the scratching too, so I will go to the
dealership and report it. Maybe we can get some
action on this before bare metal shows all the way
down.

One possible fix would be, that before the
scratches get really bad, to go to a shop that
installs tint and those clear bug guards and get
them to cut and apply a clear, narrow strip under
each front door. Thats about the only fix I can
think of?? What say you?

I will investigate and see what the cost would
be and post it for all.

in the interim...

I suggest that in the interim, we ALL clean the
weaterstrip on the bottom of the door and clean
and polish the bottom door frame very frequently
to attempt to limit our damage until this is
resolved.

This problem seems to only exist with the front
door weatherstriping, not the back doors....even
though the back doors have the same weather-
striping. Must be a design flaw of front??

dirt

the postings from the other forum indicates that
their dealership agreed that it was a factory
defect and took pictures....they recommended
that all owners contact their dealer so that it
becomes a recall...

I get the indication that you aren't planning on
contacting your dealer.....you really need to. We
need the numbers....up to you....

If my dealership fails me, doesn't mean yours
would.

Fix'n it tomorrow...

Well all, I've decided that I'm not wait'n around for
Nissan to decide whether or not to issue a recall/fix
on this problem....by then, all the paint will be
scratched down to bare metal!

So, tomorrow, I'm head'n down to my friend that
does window tinting and clear bras and have him
apply a 42" x 1.5" clear strip under each front
door. That ought to cure the problem forever!
