we will just have to wait and see....I'm just glad
that I had the clear-bra strips put on.....without
them, 6 months from now I'd have bare metal
showing big time!

My experience with scratching prob

Hi fellow Rogue-ies.

After having followed this thread for a while, and adopted the clear plastic/tape temp. fix suggested by many here, I'd like to update my experience with this problem.

I found this thread about 1 week after having bought my Rogue, found the (at the time) shallow scratches in clear coast and paint (Pearl). Thought I'd just try to keep the area clean. A week later, I was going to do the clear tape fix, notice a bunch more scratches and then some deep nicks/chips in the paint.

I brought it in to my local service group, they saw the marks and acknowledged they were scratches. That was all.

I then wrote a letter to Nissan Canada outlining the issue, they called me back and said the region rep would look into it. He gave me a call today, suggesting thats what happens to cars in Western Canada

He said he would look into it but did not offer any ideas in the meantime. I will continue to update if/when they figure out a fix for me.

Here are some pics of my DAMAGED Rogue.

As has been suggested, I really hope everyone take a few minutes to write in to Nissan Canada/USA. They seemed to value our new owner opinions, so maybe we can get them to do something about it.

Good luck!
Sampson

Sounds like the regional Rep has crap for brains. That's not just surface scratches on the clear coat. That's down to metal and is going to start rusting and being in Canada if they throw as much salt on the road as they do here in the winter it's going to be soon and fast.

By the way, welcome to the site!

Here's what I have done. I bought some weatherseal stripping and put it between the door weather strip. I actually spread apart the door seal and placed it in there. This way the door weather seal is force out and makes a tight seal to the bottom of the car where the problem is keeping the dirt out. What do you think?

So far, several months ago, I applied 3M Clear-Bra
strips to all of my door sills...seems to be working
fine...
I read what you did....sounded good. I looked at
my door seal to see where you added the weather
striping.....in the place where you put it, (inside the
door weatherseal), I already have a half-inch strip
of foam that pushes that seal out towards the sill.
So, not sure if that would do anything for me....
thats if I'm understanding what you did?? (If it
didn't stop the dirt before, don't think it would
now?) I think that we need to somehow seal it
all the way down front to back...probably by the
use of a full length weather seal??
Anyway, people need to do something, either
what I did or what you did, or something...gotta
stop the scratches....good luck!

well great news, I went to the dealer and they fixed the scratches
they did body work and painted it then added the 3 M strip of plastic...
nice job all in all ..
I then spoke with the owner of the dealer/maintenance debt, and he stated that they will only fix it if the customer approaches them for the time being...
however he did mention that NISSAN CANADA is aware of the problem but is "WAITING" ( waiting for what i have no clue) to make this a recall ...

anyways my sleepless nights are now over lol
so go to your dealers and get this resolved..
again this is for Canada i do not know about the states but i do not see why it would be different.

anyways take care everyone !!!!
