Oh, I still plan on registering this with the
dealership, just on principle. Right now, I just
want to prevent any further damage....with the
scratches I now have after just 1400 miles, I'd
sure hate to see it after 5000 miles!

...not doing the clear bra, just having him apply
the narrow strips under each front door...which
is the same clear vinyl as the clear bras.

this place is just a local window-tint/car-bra place
that I've used several times before here in
Aurora, CO....these places are everywhere in
almost any city..I'm sure there are probably
several near you.

..though I'm sure the door shutting may scratch
it a little, I think the main problem is that once
debris gets up there, and the door is shut, the
rubbing/vibration of the door to the body when
driving, probably does the most damage....just
keep both parts clean until you fix it is the best
thing you can do.

Could someone shoot a pic of where this is happening? I'm wondering if they missed a part at the factory?

clear strip added...

Just got back from the clear bra shop having him
install the clear strip on both sides, (fronts only).
I'd post pics, but they blend so well that you can't
see them.....$20 a side...

I figure this will stop the damage forever, or, for at
least as long as it takes for Nissan to recognize
the problem and issue a TSB/recall. Anyway, I can
now quit worrying about it....

One added note:
I believe that the debris gets under the front doors
from the track of the front wheels, the only reason
that the rear doors have remained immune to the
damage is that the front wheels can't throw much of
the debris that far rearward, or, what debris does get
thrown rearward hits at the wrong angle to be able to
get under the rear doors?....so, maybe after more
of an extended length of driving time, some scratching
may still occur under the rear doors.....it just takes
longer to show up.....something to keep in mind.

....I FEEL CONFIDENT THAT IF YOU, AT LEAST, DON'T
HAVE THE FRONT SPLASH GUARDS ON YOUR CAR, THIS
PROBLEM WOULD BE GREATLY ACCELERATED AND
COMPOUNDED!

UPDATE!! On the other Rogue forum, there is now
another post stating that exactly what I
just stated above.....he is now seeing the
scratching under the rear doors, just not
as bad as the front....so, before mine shows
up there, I'm gonna make another trip to
have the clear strips added on the rear
door frames too.

(Oh, I also took a trip to the dealership and registered
this possible defect, so you guys do it too....again,
there is power in numbers. They were unaware of the
problem.)

good luck y'all...

Link to pictures of affected areas...

I have a couple of pictures that I took, but, the lighting was terrible
when I took them...but one does show the location on the front door
frames where the scratches happen, and the other picture shows
which weatherstrip on the door that the debris gets caught between.
I only have under 1500 mi on mine and had scratches on both sides,
the passenger side being the worst. I feel that if I had not stopped it
now, with the clear strips that I had put on yesterday, that, by 5000mi,
it would have had very deep, down to the metal scratches, all down
the length of the door frame. (..the pictures are that taken are my front
passenger side...)

Anyway, go to this link:

mistergib - Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

Its the first two pictures.
