Hi Roguer2008, First, do you fill the tank completely? Most people stops the fill at the first clic, but from what I tried, you can fill another gallon after the first clic. What I do: The first part of the fill, I fill it up at max speed, but at about half tank, two third I slow the fill up to one third / half speed. It takes more time (but not that much) but the fuel has more time to fill the tank so the clic stop is delayed. When the clic stop occurs, I look at the pump to see how much more I should be able to put in (about a gallon). Hint: A good point to know that you almost fill the tank is that at about one liter to spill out, you will heard the tank "gurgles" as it releases some air through the filling port. From there, go to the next dollar, you are sure that the tank is full (the gauge should stay full for at least 100 kms before losing its first notch). If after checking that you still have the gauge problem, go to your dealer, there is a TSB about the Rogue fuel gauge to solve the misreading. I will try to find the reference and post it.

TSB number: NTB08037 From what I gathered, they reprogram the software calculating the fuel used. Or, It could be a faulty fuel sending unit (still used to calculate the fuel used) which need to be replaced. From what I read, your problem could be the fuel sending unit. Hope this help.

what happens is ... I wait till it does click but i do not go slow as u indicated..i go fast i gazed up yesterday and went an extra 3 liters still one notch is missing.... even parking on the left side of the street where the car is slanted to the left....still did not change ... im beginning to think it might be defective

You are not the only one. Some other Rogue owners reported faulty indication of the fuel gauge, you should go see your dealer. They could do the TSB (software reprogramming, about 15 mins job) and if you still have some misreading, do the sender unit change (about 20-30 mins job).

There is no way to overfill. Remember that temperature plays on the volume of a liquid: You fill your tank, fuel is at about 10-15C. You park your car for your day at work where it is chilly these days, tank and fuel are now at about -15C, you will have a notch removed on your gauge. You come back from work and you are stuck in traffic, car is warm and doesn't much fuel meaning tank is warm up by warm fuel going back in the tank, fuel is now at about 40C, you get back your notch or, you parked your car overnight in your garage, fuel is at about 10-15C, your notch is back. Fuel gauges are really not reliable, this is just an indication of about how much fuel you have. If your gauge moves one notch, rarely two, from warm to cold or vice versa, that is ok. If it moves more than that and often, you should tell your dealer. If you fill your tank and it is indicated only 3/4 for example, you should tell your dealer.

Mine was defective as well. My dealership told me many rogues had that problem. After filling it it would not always reach the top and surprisingly.. Going up a couple of miles later! lol They fixed it and now everything is fine.
