Wooh, I've graduated. Is there a party to celebrate that? Can I throw something in the air?

In conclusion, for my 21st century car, the only way to go is a 21st century air filter.

I had already found the AMSOIL filter https://www.amsoil.com/storefront/eaa.aspx but as you said, it does not exist yet for the Rogue (they only have the standard paper one).
I did not know for Volant, so thanks for the information.

From what I understand, it is not a lifetime filter as the oiled ones, but at least it lasts 4 times longer than a standard one if it is serviced properly, right?

Since my current filter should go until start of 2009, I hope they will be able to propose one for the Rogue since.

After some researches, I found that Volant are doing filters only for CAI kits, no panel ones.

Reading others forums (the Bob is the Oil guy forum you mentioned in another post), it seems that the AMSOIL EaA and the aFe Pro Dry S are quite similar in performance. There is a thread of someone doing a detailed study of its aFe filter with several Blackstone samplings and better fuel mileage results.

Like him, I may not have the patience to wait for AMSOIL to build a EaA filter for the Rogue and will probably go with the aFe Pro Dry S.

As synthetic oil-free air filter, I found also the AEM Dry Flow, but like AMSOIL, it did not exist yet for the Rogue.

Cool, great research and sounds like a good plan to me.

Cool

Just received the aFe Pro Dry S filter yesterday (ordered it at ultimatetruck.com, really great customer service, and since they had it in backorder, it came directly from aFe).

The funny part is that if you go on the ultimatetruck or the aFe website, you would not find the filter for the Rogue (I rechecked today). But I had several emails with the guys from ultimatetruck about the fact that I need two filters and I was ordering only one. So I have to explain them that this filter works also for the Rogue and that I need only one for the Rogue.
When I received the box yesterday, there is a delcal on the box saying that the filter is for the Nissan 300ZX... and the Rogue.

I suppose that when they have a little time, they will change their website also.

Anyway, cleaned the air filter box and the filter fits. It is a little tight, and you have to hold it as you close the air filter box, as the rubber around the filter is a little bit bigger but I feel it is better filtration wise.
Of course, I did not feel any difference on my way to work today, just wanted a cleanable lifetime air filter for my car.

Okay so how about increase in HP and perhaps increase in MPG?

That's ultimately why I would switch out of a stock type paper filter.

Mmh, I don't know as I didn't buy it for that purpose.

HP wise, I never go above 2500 rpm, maybe one or twice around 3000 to switch lines in traffic.

Increase in MPG: Not sure that would change something, I see more changes by driving gently and a little bit slower on highways (see MPG threads on that).

I bought it because I wanted a good protection for my engine and in the same time moving a part from the consumables to the permanents part list.
