Trip Computer/ Avg. MPG...is this accurate?

Now that I have over 1500mi on the clock, I
thought I'd fill'r up, reset the trip computer and
see just what kind of mileage I am getting on
strictly around town driving, (haven't taken it
on the highway as yet).

So, I did just that...filled'r up and reset everything.
I drove it easy, stop and go, up to a maximum of
45mph, several times, stoplight driving....for about
35minutes.

When I got home, it said I was averaging 28.9 mpg!!!!
Can this be right??? ...surely not, that seems awfully
high!...though I'd sure like to believe it! IF this IS
accurate, then, boy do I recommend, (with the price
of gas what it is), that you just ease your car up to
speed, (be slow and easy on the pedal), I am very
happily shocked at this mpg!

Now...I realize this is really not a "true" world test
since it was so limited and controlled....but, just
the same, thats a really good mpg average...kudos
for the Rogue!

What say you....anybody done the same test as
this before? ....tell me....tell me. Thanks.

I'll buy it. I can get over 18 MPG in my 1 ton Dodge and I've gotten almost 22 MPG in my Titan by driving and accelerating really slow and hanging back and timing stop lights and not going over 60 MPH. The down side is it isn't any fun................but at $3 to $4 a gallon filling up isn't any fun either.

I'm getting 10.1 L/100km. Not so hot. But I'm hot off the line actually... I often look back at my rear view mirror and watch everyone else behind me... maybe I'll try slowing that down a bit. I'm also not used to having a car with this much power as my Cavalier was 115hp and my Vibe was 130hp... now I just love to vroom vroom!

Well, we are averaging about 28 mpg on each tank and we are at 2500 miles now, mostly sity, a little highway going about 60mph on the way to work... i am very inpressed with the mileage so far compared to the element where i averaged 21-23 roughly...every little bit helps... and the Rogue isnt a BOX lol

I am getting around 23 mpg in the city. I am probably worse than sputnik though. Does anyone have any personal 0-60 times? I have not done any, but I feel like the ones posted by nissan are understated!

I notice that with a light foot you can keep the revs under 2000 and the Rogue will get great gas mileage at about 40-45 mph as the CVT programming keeps the rpm way down. Faster than that it drops. I get about 26 avg. Keep in mind the computer is probably not correct. Best to check mileage with consistent fillups.

So true! The speed limit never goes above 50mph for my daily commute to work, and I've occassionally been stuck behind old codgers that wont go faster than 35. Add to that Delaware is a flat state with few hills, so I don't get much of a chanch to let this puppy set land speed records. My 'puter usually reports my average speed as about 35mph.

The onboard computer has only been right twice out of 40+ fill ups, almost allways overestimating mpg. However this last tank was different, as it said I had gotten 28.7mpg when it was really 29.5

Yes, when you pass the 2000 RPMs is when the fuel economy takes a dive

the gas gauge barely works so I do not put much stock in the mpg computer. How can it be accurate when the gas gauge does not work accurately?
