I have a 2009 SL. I drove at night for the first time last night and noticed that the tach-speedometer were illuminated when the key was turned on. These lights then dimmed when I turned on the headlights and can be controlled with the control knob to darken or brighten the illumination. I can not find out if this is normal in the manual or service manual.

That is the way it is meant to be.
And unfortunately, since the dash is now illuminated whenever you drive, you have more and more people driving at night with their lights off since they can still see their dashboard.

That is a safety nonsense to me, but what can I do?
