Here's a great answer to your question. I took my 08 Rogue to the shop TODAY because it was making "that noise." The service manager just called and here is the diagnosis, arrived after service dept had to call Nissan directly to verify. The noise is caused by a faulty belt in the transmission. My options; "live with the noise until Nissan figures out in the near future how to fix this problem." Or 2, he will order a new transmission and replace it. Of course I told them to replace it so should get it back in a week or two. Hope this helps
