In fact, you don't need to remove these clips, except if that annoys you.
Push it and it will bend enough for you to access the filter.
Good thing with this car, you don't need to lift it or put it on ramp to access the filter: Just turn the wheels to the right and in front of the axle you will see a bump in the plastic liner, it is behind. You can crawl under the car for the oil, but if you use a fluid extractor, no mess and no need of ramps anymore.

BTW, you can use a oversized oil filter if you want (1356 instead of the 1365 (or vice versa, not interested to check right now). For the Amsoil guys, it is the Eao13 instead of the Eao12), it fits.
